facaldaqui I don't think comparing Rodgers to Bullivant is useful, particularly if you compare the start of the season. Bullivant's team started mediocrely, taking up from where it left off under previous management the year before; but he made steady progress, and by the time we beat Birmingham in, I think, January, we were in the top half of the table. The plummet only covered the last three months of the season, when fixtures were running out fast. Rodgers has much more scope to do something about his difficulties.

The plummet started after the league cup defeat to Middlesbrough, didn't it? I think the injuries sustained during this period were blamed on the lengthy cup runs Reading were on. Bullivant simply didn't know how to cope with the injuries and bought shit players like Andy Legg, Jason Bowen and erm whatisname, we nicknamed him the ginger ninja. And, oh yes, the shitty keeper, Nicky Colgan.

Think it was Gareth Davies

First 13 LEAGUE ONLY games then ...

G | W | L| D | Win%
13 | 3 | 6 | 4 | 23% Bullivant
13 | 2 | 7 | 4 | 15% Rodgers

Yeah, that's the guy what ruffled Keane's hair and got Bodin sent off.

IIRC the club decided not to appeal the sending off as Davies was more useful to us than Bodin

I quite liked Davies, thought he was alright.

Anyone who gets Paul Bodin sent off deserves a medal. Worst Reading defender I have ever seen.

Yeah, I disliked Bodin cos he came to us from Swindon AND replaced legend Dylan Kerr. Why on earth did Quinn and Gooding let Kerr go, I'll never know.

He was injured a lot wasn't he? I think I barely saw him play and I'm sure I was going before we signed Bodin.

Fair point about Bodin. Perhaps someone should start a Bodin v Cummings discussion thread?!!

Cummings would win on the vote simply because half our fans haven't a clue who Bodin was and because he's had the more recent shit games.

Talking about shitty keepers - wasn't it around Mick and Jimmy's time that we had a really really dodger keeper called Simon Sheppard. Took the sticks after Mihalov left/whenever mihalov did not fancy playing? He was bad, really bad, you could see our defence had no faith in him at all. :o

Hope we don't return to those days!!!

He actually took over when Shaka Hislop left for Newcastle. I disagree that he was actually very shit, we've had much worse than him. I still think Gary Phillips is the worse ever keeper I've seen.

Sheppard also broke Wdowczyk's leg at one point I think. A crime worthy of hanging

A Reading fan threw a spanner at him and blamed it on the Millwall fans, that's how bad he was.

Because that was the direction the spanner came from!

Personally I think Bullivant had a better squad of players than Clodagh though so I would expect better results from his team.

Looking at who was available in the early season games....

Federici v Mautone = Mautone
Bernal v Cummings = Bernal
Macpherson v Ingimarsson = Ingimarsson
Primus v O'Dea/Pearce/Mills = Primus
Swales v Bertrand = Bertrand
Caskey v whoever = Caskey
Parky v whoever = Parky
Hodges v Muffin = Hodges
Morley v Hunt/Long/Rasiak = Morley
Meaker v Kebe = Meaker or Kebe (is there a difference)?
Asaba v Hunt/Long/Rasiak = Asaba, well maybe Hunt if he's 100% fit and confident

Not covered, Lambert, Booty, Houghton or Williams who were also available to Terry....
