Team for Leicester

by winchester_royal » 23 Oct 2009 17:03

Anyone's guess who Rodgers will pick, but I'd like to see:

Fed

Mills
O'Dea
Pearce

Kebe
Karacan
Sig/Marek
Howard
Bertrand

Church
Ras

I'd also have Baggie on the bench. Banging them in for the reserves, and if we need a goal in the last 10 mins, I'd rather see him come onto the pitch than Shane LOLong.

Stick to 4-4-2, and as few changes as possible to make it workable.

...........Federici
Tabb, Pearce, Mills, Bertrand/O'Dea
Kebe, Karacan, Howard, McAnuff
........Church, Rasiak

That's the minimum number of changes I think we can get away with. Bertrand obviously only if fit.

Away games drop one of the strikers and bring in Siggurdsson. Tabb stays where he is until he cocks up, I'd prefer Cummings there personally but we simply can't afford to chop and change that much anymore.

I don't like having both McAnuff and Kebe on the pitch at the moment, too lightweight and prone to disappearing, same goes for HRK. But Howard doesn't have the pace to play wide and we've sent the only other player who could do it on loan.

yawn lightweight and prone to disappearing summed James Henry up perfectly

Yes, it does, which is why I wasn't talking about Henry.

Normally me too K12, but Howard has got an assist and a goal in the last two games. Brendan has got to stop axing players who are contributing something, so Howard currently ahead of Siggurdsson for me. And I really don't like Howard much and really like the Sig, to put that in context.

Sums every winger up TBH. Apart from Glenda.

I mainly agree with that line up and about the right back position. I would maybe consider O'Dea over Pearce but would be happy for our Vice Captain to start.

Your point about the two wingers is definitely true and that is probably why Rodgers started Cisse and Gunnarsson on Tuesday. With that midfield there is a risk that Karacan may be asked to do too much defending.

Also, how about playing Marek on the left. Coppell tried him on the right but that was never going to work as he was obviously going to try and come inside. Put him on the left though and Marek cutting in would make more sense, a bit like Convey against Wolves at home in 2006. I think Argentina once did this with Riquelme.

Marek's too slow to play out wide and is as much a luxury player as McAnuff or Kebe, whilst having produced much much less than Kebe.

I don't think the lack of pace would really matter if he was given a fairly free role starting from the left wing. I think he's played out wide for the Czechs before and he's probably the best option of our attacking midfielders to be able to do that role.

Saying that he's most definitely a luxury player and I agree with the comparison with Kebe. For all the grief Kebe gets and all the praise/worship Marek gets, the comparison of goals scored and set up would embarrass our Czech international.

Indeed

Kebe: 50(9), 3 goals, ~15 assists.
Matejovsky: 27 (1), 2 goals, ~0 assists.

Davies.

Lightning quick, done more to show he can put in consistent performances over a season, if at a low level, strong long shot, excellent set pieces. Determined and capable of putting his foot in and getting stuck into a game.

Like I said, two wingers are a luxury in a side in our form.

looks like matejovsky will be playing. About bloody time in my opinion. His style of play would suit an adventurous 4-5-1 and with church's movement it could work a treat.....one hopes. so im going with this.

..............................Fed.........................

Mills.............Pearce...........O'Dea............Bertrand.

............................Gunnarsson................

..............Matejovsky............Howard.................

McAnuff............................................Hal Robson-Kanu

Who cares....the formation will change after 5 mins and we will end up with 3 left backs, no wingers and Cisse up front on his own!

I like this especially if Church is in goal and the time lines up in reverse. Leicester won't be expecting that. Bit like reversing the batting order in cricket.
