I know this may get shot down but anyone thought that cummings may well be better suited to an advanced positon.... like right wing? he has the pace and am sure his crossing is better than his tackling

well he wasnt actually at the game so that may explain it

anyone who thinks tabb was poor needs to watch a video of Pearce's performance. how the fcuk can you put him in the team let alone captain!!

bring in a loan striker.. like marcus bent and we may well get some points (or at least goals)

cant blame the manager look above and beyond him!!

Ow, I'm cut to the quick. Come back when you're balls have dropped then have another go.

Try actually turning up to a game before making a review on ACTUAL performances

Oooo get her.

Hoop Blah How was Tabb partly at fault for the goal?

He was a few yards behind the rest of the back four at times, and I don't think he really got involved in the game enough, but he did ok. Had no blame for the goal in my eyes though.

He was at fault for leaving his position at the post.
What is just as unprofessional is that whoever should have been marking their main striker,Fryatt, didn't so Tabb had to decide whether to stay by the post or go and mark a dangerous striker stood unmarked about 5 yards from goal.
It is how we are this season-slipshod both in defence and attack.
Who's fault is that?
Well it has to be the manager and the players.
There are so few in our total squad who appear capable of commanding a game anywhere on the pitch, from keeper to striker and although last night there was considerable effort there is so much about us at the moment that smacks of a relegation side.
Relegation sides are always "unlucky" or don't "have the rub of the green" but we have seen time and again that these teams aren't really unlucky, they are generally less skillful and the table doesn't lie.

Ipswich are the same at the moment-reports usually say that they have played well but the table shows that they don't win games which implies that they don't have the killer touch.
I think we have real problems and despite the odd cameo like Marek last night I fear that we are just like Southampton last season-a few promising youngsters plus a number of old lags and underachievers and having sold our best players it could well be that we will join Pardew's boys next season.
My how our standards have dropped when many of our posters seem glad that we have only lost 1-0 after the two heavy away defeats.

Cant you read VM?

Tabbs position wasnt on the post, for some stupid reason we dont put a player on both posts, his job was marking not standing on the post FFS

I thought Rodgers has already said Tabb should have been on the post?

Rodgers said after the game on Sky that our plan IS to have a player on the post.
He ended up marking Fryatt-you can't tell me that was straight from the manager's coaching manual, smallest defender to mark top scorer?

Depends on whether Fryatt scores many from corners. Either way you can't blame Tabb for picking up an unmarked player rather than the post. Pearce is the captain and central defender, if anyone should be making sure the oppo team's top scorer is picked up at a corner so the full back can stay on the post it's him. Or Federici.

On Sky he didn't name the player but said that the player knew that he should have been there.

How do you all know it's Tabb that should have been on the back post?

It's because of their years of experience in the professional game

and because the Sky pundits said someone should be there

so why not blame Tabb?

Or because it's the role of full backs and/or the shorter players to stand on the posts at corners if it's anyone's job.

Two alternate scenarios for those blaming Tabb.

Same ball comes in, same near post header. Tabb's on the post, ball comes off him and drops to an unmarked Fryatt. Goal.

Tabb's on the post, ball comes in to the far post. Fryatt's unmarked. Goal.

I'm not blaming Tabb, i'd just assumed that's who Rodgers was refering to, as he had been on the back post as the corner was being taken.

Almost 24 hours on and having allowed the dust to settle will make my comments.

Fed - No chance with the goal. Made some very good saves. As far as the goal is concerned, the delivery was perfect for the header. Even if we had someone on the post I doubt if the header could have been stopped legally.

Tabb - Did nothing wrong. Always looked to cut in on his left which restricted the options

Mills and Pearce - Good in straight lines but why does Mills have to hump the bloody thing?

Marek and Howard - Best games for the club. Both worked hard.

MacAnuff and Sig - Not the greatest games they will ever have.

Rasiak, Church and Long - We need real centre forwards

Kebe - Did what was asked of him.

Yes, it was the best I have seen this season but that is not saying much. To be brutal, it shows just how dreadful we have been. To be satisfied after losing again is not good. I said halfway through the first half that Leicester were there for the taking and with some decent strikers we would have won quite comfortably. Yet again, the second half failed to live up to the first half. When will this ever change? It is all very well saying that the CCC is a poor competition this season. Well, we are 22nd out of 24. What does that say?

I expect no more than 1 point form Cov. If we fail to beat Ipswich and BR has failed to address the striker situation then he must go. I accept that the oppo was only Burton, but which two players scored 4 of the goals? Where are they now???

I thought he happened to be nearest that post because he was marking someone stood close to it.

As I said last night when I got back, you can see that Bertrand is the only who is on a post for our corners

In the second half it was the same, but I think he was stood on far post instead of the near one. That must be waht BR means when he said that post was supposed to be covered for an outswinging corner

Whoever is meant to be on a post it surely couldn't have been Tabb's job to mark Fryatt.

As long as BR keeps the changes to 2 maximum we will get a result.
