Based on his form this season it isn't too big a loss, however it does make signing a new striker an absolute priority for Hammond this week.

He was supposedly carrying the injury long term so his form would have been affected. :|

TBF mate he's struggled with his fitness all season which is the main reason he hasn't featured more. I don't think it's too dramatic to say that we've just lost our best striker.

Which isn't great. Definitely bringing in new blood now.

I agree, but that isn't saying much at all. Anew striker was a priority regardless, and Hunt wasn't exactly looking like he was gonna get 20 this season.

Just as with Coppell over the last few seasons, Hammond will prepare a statement for Rodgers that says:
"I have full confidence in the current squad's ability to reach the Premiership and therefore will not be adding to it in the transfer window".

Madejski really needs to not be tight on the wage contributon if we're going to still be in this division next season.

JM will say we can't afford it. We'll be lucky to get one of Binfield's strikers in

Alan Partridge David Healy must surely be available for a loan from Sunderland?

I'd hope so, but we keep naming him as one of the substitutes; to which my response each time is "the squad can't be that good if we're having to put Healy on the bench". If we'd recall Waghorn I'm sure Healy would go out on loan. It's a pity we didn't recall him before Monday; it was rather galling to see a Sunderland player get the winner at The Madejski.

Prem might be a step to far for Healy but at Championship level he is proven, also his International record is 'world class'. So he'd fit in with our model.

He hasn't played enough club football in the last 2-3 years and a 3 month loan to us would suit all parties.

I don't see why anyone thinks recalling the loan forwards is going to help one bit.

The reason they're out on loan is that they're not as good as the ones we have in the team, who, incidently aren't good enough to score goals in this team. What we need is to go outside and bring someone in. I've already said I think someone like Healy would be a good addition, and apart from the new 7 subs rule I can't see why Sunderland wouldn't be open to getting him out on loan.

Another player who I think would be a massive coup, and is probably a little unrealistic a shout, would be Daniel Sturridge on a short term deal. He isn't getting much of a run out at Chelsea and so maybe a spell in the first team under Rodgers might be good for his development!

Kevin Phillips would be ideal, is he getting games for Brum this season?

Showed us last season that he still has it in his locker.

Although wages would be a problem.

It's a shame we didn't get Sam Vokes on loan, he's got a bit of everything and knows where the goal is.

Only thing going against him is he hasn't yet got that experience that we might need now are backs are against the wall.

Well look on the bright side. He wont be sold off when we're relegated. At least until that January.
