Wasn't that what Burns did with lambert and an other??

It was the "Death Row" 5

Lambert
Legg
Bowen
Davies
and another - who I just can't remember - refused to play them even though Legg, Bowen and Davies would all have improved the team.

I think Parkinson was the other player that you refer to. Initially Burns played Parky at centre back, but for the first few games after relegation he refused to play him at all. Following a poor start to the season he recalled him as captain.
Just prior to Burns` appointment as manager I had a chat with him on the South Bank during the game against Huddersfield but I didn`t have a clue who he was at the time. The passing wasn`t good enough as I recall and Parkinson was particularly singled out.

Checking the transfers out for season 1998/9 on soccerbase, I wonder if Martyn Booty was one of the 5?

That was it, the 5th name was Martyn Booty.

Parky was sidelined but not in the same way and was reprieved after about a third of the season....

Ferris A Reading fan threw a spanner at him and blamed it on the Millwall fans, that's how bad he was.

He still dropped it.

Ferris
Thaumagurist* But you claimed that a Reading fan threw it! :|

Exactly, so he must have been in the away end as you suggested.

I doubt a Reading fan would be in the away section along with the Millwall numbskulls. Which leads me to think it was actually a Millwall numbskull throwing it.

I thought it was at Millwall though, so a Reading fan WOULD have been in the away end... or am i mistaken?

Nah, it definitely was at Elm Park. I remember Sheppard picking it up and giving it to the referee.

Cummings was cast aside to the Academy lot on Wednesday. Mooney also nowhere to be seen - not sure if he has been loaned out.

Interesting to note that from your training ground visit on Wednesday (git!), although he's the worse right back i've seen for a long time to play for us.

Mooney is on loan at Charlton, Y25. Thought i'd let pooandwee see how badly you murked yourself on this thread so sent him the LOLink.

I remember being at Oxford away, when all the Reading fans were singing, Bullivant out. Those were the good old days.

Think these days, a round of Madejski out would have far more effect on the position of the club than picking on the manager.
