Ryn Plymouth_Royal 8. He's stated several times that he wants give everyone a chance so he can get a good idea of who can play in the first team. Very fair, but has its draw backs. We have a big squad and when someone has a knock he can afford to drop them because of the numbers and also so that he can see what another player can do.
Realistically, we've got four strikers, seven centre midfielders, two wingers (for two positions); four centre backs, two left backs, one right back and one goalkeeper. You call that a big squad?
I call that little better than average, with poor cover in key areas. Don't forget that a lot of these players are turning out for our reserves as well (Karacan, Tabb, Church, Cummings...)
Let's see if Hamer can step up to the plate if Fedders gets a knock. McAnuff gets injured again? Back to Robson-Kanu. Strike partner for Rasiak now Hunt's injured? Church
As actual first teamers (Who wouldn't get called up for the reserves), how many do we have? Ten?
I think your missing the point.
In terms of numbers we have the following
GK - Fed, Hamer, Anderson and McCarthy. 2 of which are on loan and the other 2 are first and back up.
RB Kelly, rosenior and Cummings. tabb optional
CB Pearce Mills O'dea Ivar. Cisse optional
LB Bertrand, armstrong. Odea optional
CM siggy, karacan, matejovsky, cisse, gunarsson, howard, davies, tabb, Bozanic, bryantt
lw/rw- henry, antonio, mcanuff, kebe, hrk.
strikers church, long, rasiak, bignall, mooney and n.hunt.
the point is over the course of the season we have had these players available, some coming later than others and others moving on. He's tried and tested most of these guys because he has had that option to see what they can do. Yes, at the moment we have a more settled team and you can discount a few of these guys. however, over the course of his time as a manager he has had a big squad of players to choose from and has fairly given everyone a chance.
