Dirk Gently But never forget that we have more points and are higher in the table than Palace 4 years ago when they went up with us. If you belive in BR - as SJM obviously does, as he's not sacked him - it makes logical sense to also believe that a Palace-esque improvement can happen.

Palace got promotion with us? Not sure that's the case Dirk.

Who Moved The Goalposts? I'm surprised no-one mentioned the fact that SJM said he's no longer the wealthy man he was. Looks like the recession has bitten hard.

Oh, and here's my attempt...

Fantastic! Love it! LOL

You're right - complete and utter brain fart there

It was 2004 they did the miraculous rise and went up via the play-offs. With us in 2006 they only got to the play-offs - and had been in contention all season.

Dirk Gently Promotion is a possibility. Not a realistic one, but it certainly is a possibility.
If you accept promotion is a posibility then you would have to be a fool not to accept relegation as a posibility.

Agreed. Anything is a possibility - that much is certain at this stage of the season.

But after that you get to the point where it's down to judgement of probabilities - what is likely to happen, not what can happen.

As someone said above, the key to Palace's rise was the return of Andy Johnson, a premier player and future international for England. We don't have anyone like that. Is it possible to shoot up the league with inexperienced and journeyman strikers? I don't think so, but Hull did put in a good run to the playoffs with no one special in their team.

I suspect we need to be getting our midfielders to score more - Mateyovsky, Sigardsson, Howard and Karacan should all be getting more than they do.

I'm surprised Howard hasn't scored yet. He's clearly got a long-range shot on him, something we lacked last season.

West Stand Flash Enjoying a season where we have been constantly shite, lost all our best players and have a chairman who couldn't get away quicker after fobbing us all off with contant lies.

Though I remember a Marek long-range special against Liverpool - and his goal against Brum on the last day of last season was a fairly long-range effort as I recall!

Scored in the 4-1 defeat at QPR, but I do agree we need more goals from midfield, and at the moment I don't think the current midfield four will score enough.

Feel a bit sorry for Scott Davies & James Henry who both seem to be scoring for fun in the lower leagues, yet I don't think have been given a fair crack yet. Cisse also popped up with a few goals last season!

It could all be worse - one pre season an old chairman (Frank Waller I think) wouldn't shell out £7K for Alan Devonshire from Slough Town - instead he decked out the director's box and re-tarmacked the directors car park.

I suppose everything is relative.
At the current time Dev might be a £7 million footballer and we have just spent £7 million on infrastructure.
Nothing changes much.

That's up there in the RB class of skewing things !

How about ' That tightwad has just blown £40 million on a penthouse flat (with football stadium attached) yet won't even fork out £2 million for Tommy Smith'. He's killing this club.....
