The draw was made in 2007 or 2008.

The playoff between AFC and Oceania was decided before then.
The seeding of the European draw - yes, that was silly - but an intra-Europe playoff was decided then

so whinge about it then?

Excellent news that Nigeria and Cameroon are through - like to see the big stars in the tournament and they have a chance as it's in Africa this time.

Very excited about the Ireland game - probs heading to the pub on me tod :|

Well france lost 3-1 in Austria and drew twice with Romania.

Ireland don't hammer teams or get hammered - but you're right France could do it to them.

Hoping for a Bosnian victory - should be quite a game that one.

no, I know the French have underperformed recently (but do not forget they only lost the WC Final in Berlin on penalties). Man for man they are far better than Ireland, but of course that may count for little. Before the draw was made, the French wanted to avoid the Irish, so they are obviously worried.

OK, I'll go for 2 0 France tonight (but come on Ireland  ) and Portugal to be held by Bosnia.

I just want it to stay tight for the second leg. Makes it much more interesting...

241 beers make it interesting.

I want Bosnia and Slovenia to join Serbia at the World Cup - therer's a better quality of borderline nutjob in that part of the world.

I may also be going to the France - Ireland game on my own, if I can move after mum's shepherd pie ...

Ryan Nelsen was absolutely immense - I know Bahrain are hardly great but he dealt with everything pretty much on his own, as well as being forced up the pitch for every single set piece as their only player can can head the ball

He looked shattered at the end

Sad about the Irish but the French are better unfortunately. Irish miss Reid and Ireland desperately.

Oh and Papes - Wednesday is probs going to be in an Irish bar in the centre as my mate Paddy is Irish and the atmosphere will be better in there. You're welcome to come along...

I genuinely had not clocked what had happened with Algeria and Egypt

identical records - LOL
95th minute goal bringing this about - LOL

One off playoff to work out who qualifies?

LOL

Uruguay 1 up against Coasta Rica in the other playoff

Portugal and Russia one goal leads against Bosnia and Slovenia, Greece goalless with Ukraine.

Starfish I stick with the idea that we'll go out. By a single goal in the end though - 1-2 in Dublin and a brave draw over there.

Not far out. Having said that, the second half yesterday suggested that Ireland will do very well to get a draw over there.

Well played France despite Henry and Anelka looking as though it was just a friendly.
Ireland would have contributed nothing to the entertainment value at the World Cup finals where most of us surely want to see the best teams, even if they haven't been at their best in qualifying like France,Argentina and Portugal.

If they had Reid or Ireland in there it would all be different (although not as good as France obviously). It all goes back to seeding the draw.
