Reading FC - Away kits

by The Goat was fed » 17 Nov 2009 10:49

1. What was your favourite - for me, the Red and Yellow hoops - crica 1992-94.
2. Does anyone have a timeline of our away kits, I remember someone posting up all of our home kits and being surprised at the lack of hoops, was just interested to see what our most prominent away colour has been, got a feeling it might be red or orange??

I've always thought that our traditional away colours were either red or yellow.

Although i agree with the 92-94 blue/yellow hoops my personal favourite was the 91-92 arrow shirt. Was given this for my birthday and remember wearing it on the terrace at Burnden Park (Boltons old ground for those who dont know) when Jim Leighton was on loan at the club

Red and yellow 3rd kit, 93/94 for me. I would love it if we brought out an away kit like it. About time we had a decent hooped away kit again.

Should be some kind of red kit. Otherwise, why is red such a prominent colour on the club badge?

The Simod Cup final shirt for me (only how it should have been with the sky blue shorts and white socks - just like watching Brazil). The all white strip comes a close second (just like watching Real Madrid, only with Andy Hughes rather than Feranc Puskas pulling the strings in midfield).

Red makes most sense to have as an away kit, for me, because it is so different to the home kit colours.

My favorite away kit was the 'Spain' kit from a few years ago.

The current white and green is pish.

Agreed about the hooped away kit, but the black and grey number from a few years ago was pretty mint in my opinion so it wasn't long ago that we had one.

I quite liked the black and blue one from 03-05. Was pretty striking.

I said a decent kit. That black and grey thing was horrendous. Personally I'm not a fan of black or white kits, black kits because the look pretty crap and white kits in relation to RFC because white is such a predominant colour in our home kit. By the latter token, a dark blue away kit is just pointless. It has actually irritated me recently with the two white away kits, the recent hooped away kit, and the navy blue number in 05/06. Why such bland kits? Bring back the days of away kits with colour. Red and yellow away for me. I'm not averse to the yellow 3rd kit of 00/01 either, which is my 2nd favourite.

That that case, the 98/99 away kit was best
