I cant think of anything that happened to England at the Montreal Olympics. Unless you are going on about Keith Remfry being robbed of Gold in the Men's Open Class. I am over that BTW. 8)

This is Ireland people. if the French had done this to England the Micks would love it. oxf*rd em and enjoy it I say 8)

Not defending the French for a second, but it is a bit overkill for people to be saying the Irish were "denied a win" by cheating.

All they were actually denied was a penalty shootout - no guarantees they'd have won that.

Ironically, it came off the part of Henry's anatomy that Spacey was using to fiddle with himself for the best part of 102 minutes

Dirk Gently
TBM Surely people should be having a go at the officials, not Henry....i'm sure in that split moment he just instinctively stuck his hand out and handled the ball BUT as anyone who plays football knows........you play until the whistle, if the ref or lino didn't spot it - whats Henry to do???

Once is accidental - but one touch to control it and then another to pass it across to Gallas is takng things a bit far....

I didn't think he did pass it to Gallas with his hand? He handled the ball which then dropped to his foot with which he passed to Gallas.

LOLz @ the commentator at the final whistle.

'it's a hollow victory for France as Ireland are cheated out of a place at the world cup'

hollow? surely that is for the French to decide. it was also a draw before the French goal, they were therefore not deffo going through.

and finally, cheating goes on throughout football, at all levels, all the time. Little dives here and there to win free kicks in the middle of the pitch etc. Just because Henry's lead directly to a goal does not make him more of a sinner than anyone else in my opinion.

the truth is between the two, first it hit his hand, to stop it going out, he then controlled it with his hand and passed with his foot. Cheating? Yes. Would we have complained if Rooney had done it at a key moment? No.

ps I was up for the Irish, of course (French in-laws  ). Doyle is an interesting case. His flick ons and tackling back were first rate, but it's true he was not the direct threat that a number 9 should be.

Irish MOM for me was Lawrence, French MOM, the goalie or Anelka.

It's fairly marginal really isn;t it ? Nothing like the Maradona incident.
Some real LOLs arising - Liam Brady suggesting the game should be replayed and an Irish player complaining about a refereeing error !

handbags_harris Henry, I felt, was a beacon of fair play during his time in the Premier League.

Even after his comedy dive against Spain in WC2006 that lead to a goal?

Technically, it is not overkill at all. Ireland were winning 'the game' 1-0. That goal made it 1-1 and 'denied Ireland a win'. I don't see how that is overkill at all.

TBM Wayne Rooney punches the ball into the net and a goal is given......would you be going mad cos we've just won the world cup, or going mad cos Rooney has cheated and the game should be replied.

Any reports in on how much plastic furniture was thrown round Paris by the fans last night :?: :?:

The one that, according to the TV replays, had two French players off? That one?
