cmonurz As I understand it, Liverpool need to win tonight, and Lyon to take at least a point at Fiorentina. Then Liverpool would need to beat the Italians at Anfield to go through.

T.R.O.L.I. Correct. If, however, Lyon and Fiorentina draw then Liverpool will to beat Fiorentina by 3 goals to be certain of qualifying

Big Foot So basically Liverpool need Lyon to get at least a point, beat Debrecen and then beat Fiorentina by 3 goals to go through?

Correct. If, however, Lyon and Fiorentina draw then Liverpool will to beat Fiorentina by 3 goals to be certain of qualifying (due to having already lost 2-0 in Florence). 2-0 will be enough if Liverpool beat Debrecen 4-0 tonight otherwise the Fiorentina go through on GD.

Essentially yes.
If Fiorentina beat Lyon at home tonight then Liverpool are OUT.
If Fiorentina and Lyon draw tonight then Liverpool must win their last two games to stand any chance of going through. The scenarios for Liverpool here are:
Liverpool beat Fiorentina by 3 or more goals & any sort of win away at Debrecen - Liverpool are THROUGH.
Liverpool beat Fiorentina 2-0 & beat Debrecen by 4 goals or better - Liverpool are THROUGH.
Liverpool beat Fiorentina 2-0 & beat Debrecen by a ridiculously high scoring 3 goal margin (at least 7-4 depending on tonight's result in Florence - 7-4 + the draw scoreline in Florence (so 8-5 if it's a 1-1 draw)) - Liverpool are THROUGH.
Liverpool beat Fiorentina by 1 goal or by 2 goals with Fiorentina scoring (i.e. 3-1, 4-2) - Liverpool are OUT.
If Lyon win in Florence tonight then a home win by any socre against Fiorentina means that Liverpool are THROUGH.
The only highly unlikely scenario I'm not sure of is that Lyon and Fiorentina draw - say 0-0 - and Liverpool beat Debrecen 6-3. A 2-0 win for Liverpool in the final match leaves both Liverpool and Fiorentina with exactly the same record even down to the head to head. Presumably UEFA would draw lots in this case or does it go on CL record over the past x years?
