Silver Fox I wonder how different yesterday's game would have been if the media hadn't been going on about Gerrard being a diver all week. Webb would surely then have given the stonewall penalty wouldn't he?

He knocked the ball past Gallas and was falling before he even reached him - he made contact only cos Gerrard ran into him

Agreed. Gerrard saw that the ball had gone with a couple of legs sprawled out in front of him, so delberately fell into them. Gallas made no contact with Gerrard during the tackle. Nailed on it was not.

Victor Meldrew That's interesting because all the neutral pundits on the radio today (including Graham Poll but I'm not sure about his credibility)called it as a stonewall penalty.

Four Of Clubs ... and little mention of that appalling studs up lunge by 'baby-faced do-no-wrong charmer' Torres down in the corner flag after the @rse player (Traore?) had fairly but firmly wrestled him off the ball. Put money on that happening down the other end with a Scouser on the end of it = minimum yellow card.

Arshavin's booking was stupid, the defender kicked the ball he was running in - didn't even lift his foot up and as the liverpool player was coming down he fell into Arshavin and a yellow card was produced

...sorry - think I'm mis-reading that - when it comes to the almighty, whiter than white and squeakey clean Stevie G. there is no such thing as 'neutral pundit' - and half or more of them on TV & Radio are often ex-Reds anyway!
Must confess to a secret delight whenever Phil Thompson is the summariser on
Sk(h)y(pe) and Liverpool let in late goals - much like those classic YouTube clips of him vs Barnsley in the Cup - I was rolling around the floor as the Fiorentina game drew to a close last week - his reactions to the injury-time sickener were Priceless!
I agree (though admit I am probably never objective about anything Scouser) with the views on here that it was never a 'stonewall/ironed on' etc etc pen. nor was the feeble 'dive' by Torres a few mins later on the edge of the box.
Similarly that guff the Ginger Whinger Durham came up with on TalkSh!te last week re Gerrard and the dive vs Blackburn - that he was totally innocent of wrongdoing "cos he didn't appeal to the Ref"
- if he does that (sorry!) WHENEVER he does that at Anfield, he doesn't need to appeal cos he's got 40k one-eyed Scallies howling at the ref on his behalf!

Oh and just for the record I hate the Gooners too!

Victor Meldrew Do you feel the same about all scousers,i.e do you include Everton?
Just for any future reference what team do you tie your mast to?
Which divers do you turn a blind eye to?
Man Utd-Rooney and Owen?
Chelsea-Lampard,2 Coles and Drogba?
Spurs-Keane and Defoe?
