Watford board having a ball. Bet this has brightened their day up.

winchester_royal Rodgers will be a good manager one day, but not in the English leagues.

Yep, good job he got those Italian lessons in isn't it, next stop Juventus

Nah, he'll be off to Inter as a youth coach.

oxf*rd.
I can't help but think we've shot ourselves in the foot now.
Who are we going to bring in?
Will they play the young players?
Will they get the most out of McAnuff, Rasiak, etc.?
Also, will the new manager change captains etc.?
oxf*rd

Maguire Perhaps there's more to it, who knows.

perhaps it really was mutual and he wasn't enjoying it any more.

Does seem odd though, as we did seem to have turned the corner to a degree after he stopped trying to play 4-3-3

The corner wasn't really turned though was it? We were still failing to put away chances and leaking like a sieve at the back. .

We were creating chances, which is a huge improvement over earlier in the season.

Mind you, when Burns was sacked the wheels were in motion several days before he left. He left after what was considered a decent performance v Bradford, whereas it was a capitulation at Bournemouth that sealed his fate*. We had a disaster v Palace, followed by a reasonable performance v Scunthorpe, so maybe it was the Palace game that earned him the boot.

* a mate of mine was called in to have a meeting with Nigel Howe after shouting out a few choice comments after the Bournemouth game, and Nigel Howe was suggesting possible managers "...if Burns was to be sacked..." two days before he left.

Christmas has come early!!

Brendan wont be missed by the majority. In 10 years time I think we will all struggle to remember who that sh*t bloke was who followed the legendary Steve Coppell ...

Where he can play with all his kiddy friends who might be able to play his style in a youth league without getting roughed up.

Fantastic news! I rarely praise JM but thank god swift action has been taken before the transfer window.

There is no doubt in my mind that a better manager will get more points out of that team.

Alan Partridge Whilst obviously it was their cock up in the first place, the board/ Madejski deserve credit for acting now. They left it far too late with Bullivant giving Burns no chance, this time they have acted at the perfect time. The new man gets 4 games or so to assess the situation then act in January. If they stuck with Rodgers then they had to give him January, and once he's had January he may as well have had the season. With which again all would be too late.

I do hope that dolan is put in temp charge and Rodgers clown staff are bombed out too.

My thoughts exactly. Really did not see it coming, and feel slightly sad for the bloke but IMO he was out of his depth and his awful PR skills just made his whole tenure as manager a joke.

Problem is though, what effect will this have on players like McAnuff?

Downside is the Mcanuff, Rasiak situation as W_R points out.

That is a very good point. Don't forget Rasiak, who also performed well for Rodgers previously at Watford.

Those two dry up we are relegated for sure.

Almost as funny as your post only yesterday saying all was fine, we're going to finish midtable?

Did the humour, which I thought was betrayed by the use of a couple of BR's catchphrases, pass you by?

Anyway, as long as RFC don't poach Keith Scott, I'm sad but fairly ambivalent.

Which is a shame because it's unlikely a European team will give him the chance as a complete non-entity from English Football.

Northern Ireland will soon be looking for a new gaffer !!

and by the way the Watford board have their own problems today..
Heading for administration by this time tomorrow
which means we will climb one place...we really are on a roll now
