Royal Lady Someone on another thread said BR was on 6 month probation period, and so JM doesn't have to pay him any compensation.

Cheap option.

Coward's option.

I'm guessing some cash must have changed hands. Rodgers would've covered his ass wouldn't he given he was leaving a club that didn't want him to go? Just a thought.....

He seems so cocksure of himself, he probably thought he'd be here for years.

Pure speculation of course. I'm just concerned now that we don't have anyone lined up and McDermott is going to be given the job, maybe until end of season - which could be the death knell, though not McDermott's fault.

Rubbish, for all you know McDermott could be just the guy we're crying out for. Knows the team, particularly the younger players, and goo football knowledge. Could prove to be an inspired move......

I'd be surprised if that happened TBH. JM is clearly worried about the club getting relegated again otherwise he would've stuck with BR. Given that he's now done the deed, it would be a little pointless to put Brian in charge wouldn't it? I bloody hope he doesn't!

If this is true, the six months expired on 5th December, so we would indeed be paying compensation

It will definitely be mcdermott till the end of the season. It makes sense. Look at when Burns got sacked mid season we appointed someone in Pardew who knew the club - and that paid off

Mcdermott would be the right person till the end of the season - he knows the players he can pick a really decent player (Doyle!) and Thordvasen is his spot as well....

Isn't that what we said about Rodgers?

I'd like to think we'll get someone in. Reading is a much bigger animal these days with more to lose....isn't it?!

I would like to see us get Hope Powell. The manager who got England to the final of the European Championships.

Ferguson did a terrific job at Peterborough. Until this season. There's a story there, that I'd bet would be just as interesting as Brendan's account of his tenure here.

We've got to get someone in with experience. Not academy, not reserves, real football league (PL would be a benefit) experience. He's got to gain the total and utter respect of the whole playing squad. Immediately. He's also, I suspect, got to be a free agent. Not sure that Hart fulfills all that criteria. I'd plump for Hoddle.

How about George Graham... he might upset half our squad, but he'll dispatch them and soon replace them with hard nosed scary beggars.

I'm so tired I'm just plucking names from the air. So far, I've not seen anyone with less credentials than Brendan Rodgers. Even Timmy Mallet would have gained us more points (even if just a few extra)

wikipedia
Ferguson has been linked to the vacant manager post at Reading after Brendan Rodgers left the club by "mutual consent". Ferguson was linked to the Royals in summer 2009 but were refused permission to speak to him.

Parky's failed twice at this level. OK, he inherited a bad situation with Charlton, but he made no improvement in them at all before they went down. He'd only be a good manager for us if we expect to be in League I, which Parky knows well.

Choose please and for the love of god, choose wisely.

I have it on good authority the madman scours the boards (or has his advisors do it) to report to him on what the fans are thinking (the obviously regard the board as a harsh but necessary source)
