Alan Partridge
Stooper
DOYLERSAROYALER Just been told by someone who works at PP, that a lot of money is going on Iain Dowie in last few hours ...he's now 3rd favourite

He is the only person in the world I would be more unhappy with than Rodgers, f this was to happen I would absolutely not go. So 1 positive from it 8)

Tony Adams?

Good point well made. I would still rather have Donkey Adams than the Elephant man.

TBF to Dowie, look at what he did with Palace, who were in a very similar to posiotion to the one we're in now.

We could do much, much worse.

Hoop Blah How about Brendon Rodgers...the Watford model of course!

Jim Magilton did ok to start with at Ipswhich didn't he?

Southgate could be said to have been a success for a while at 'Boro. Zola at West Ham? Not going so well now thankfully, but people seem to think he's been a success because of last season.

i would not say that any of these have been successful, simply because none have won anything, or even come close to winning anything.

And been absolutely dire everywhere else since, dines out on that one half season. Was utterly atrocious at Coventry. Could do much much better tbh.

Stooper

Stooper I don't believe the club will take the cheap option.

This echoes so much of the Bullivant/Burns switch that it's uncanny. First choice is unavailable, go for someone less experienced, they fail, you bring in the 'saviour' first choice.

Difference this time is that it hasn't taken until March.

Who was the first choice this time, though?

Ferguson. Reading went in, Posh rebuffed the offer.

I think you're wrong. We approached Peterbrough, requesting to speak to Ferguson. I don't think we were going to appoint him straightaway, well, at least not before talking to him. Therefore, who knows if he was the first choice?

The Tommy Burns thing, we did actually speak to him and offered him the job. Which he turned down, preferring to coach the Newcastle youngsters.

Don't doubt that, but in comparison to names like Adams and Davey, I'd probably take him.

I'm hoping RFC are setting their sights higher than those 3 tbh. I'd sooner have McDermott than any of those 3.

I'm excited now more than I have been for a long time - perhaps this February.

In May I was down about Copps going and then the clear out. Rodgers annoyed me and I didn't see what he was attempting to do. So now we have got the Coppell and losing players thing out of our system we have the opportunity to get someone interesting in and start to move up the table.

Would be very happy with Ferguson as he is ambitious, knows how to carry himself and has achieved success before.

Is that the only measurement of success then?

Has Moyes been successful at Everton, what about Bruce at Wigan etc etc.

Doing a good job is a relative thing surely?

it depends how ambitious you are. To me, winning silverware or gaining promotion is a measurement of success, not plodding along doing a good job. For those in the premier league you add cups or european football. Personally i don't think Bruce was successful at Wigan, but he did a good job in keeping them up.
