PEARCEY
Arch
PEARCEY I felt BR should have been more his own man and fought Madejski from the on-set by making clear he should not have been expected to accept the sale of so many key players.
My impression was that Rodgers wanted all the old guard out. He thought he could build a team in his own image and likeness. Remember, Harper couldn't get a game before he was shipped out. In his own words "my face don't fit".

You may well be right Arch. In which case BR tried to change too much too quickly.

Never a truer word said.

Whole new style, formation and tactics, whole new training method, 7 new players ... Add in inconsistent selection policy and tactics and we had very little chance to get off to a good start, which was essential.

To be honest how many people are there recently involved with this club who can't shoulder a portion of the blame for where we are now? Coppell made a lot of mistakes. BR tried to change too much too fast. JM appointed BR and hasn't invested sufficiently. Players have let us down. All are responsible. We shouldn't place it all on 1 man, as some do. For Royalee, it's all Coppell. For Ideal, It's all Rodgers. For Royal_Blue, it's all Madejski. It's all of them in reality.

Agreed, not to mention some lame performances from players, going all the way back to Hunt and Lita in the PL.

Yup.

I personally think for this season the biggest share lies with Rodgers though.

Our bang for the buck in the transfer market has been abysmal since we were promoted, and that's a major factor in the fact that we don't really have a team to speak of now. Who's to blame for that?

I'm glad we got thumped out of sight today - karmic retribution for the spectacularly shortsighted decision to ditch the previous manager.

Just feel sorry for anyone who went, that's all.

The scouting team takes a bow, but it must fall on the manager who decides who to sign. Which given we made 7 signings under Rodgers, still points me at him for our problems this season.

And he's still playing Gunnarsson - surely one of the least talented Reading players in recent history.

That is grossly unfair and I doubt the two Swansea players who he made look mugs a few minutes from the end of Saturday's team would agree either. The skill and determination shown by him at that point, plus a surprising turn of pace, quite rightly earned a standing ovation from fans in the East stand who were closest to the action.

What's more, had we fielded a team of Bryn-like players throughout this season, I bet we would be a good number of places higher up the table than we currently are.

Bryn is what he is. Great servant and pro for the club, good to have in your squad and can play very well occasionally. Saved a sure defeat on saturday. By no means responsible for how crap we are these days.

Schards#2 I did my ranting a year ago when the writing was on the wall, but very few appeared capable of reading it.

Don't worry, we'll have the best run and most financially stable club in League 1.

Been a regular since 76/77 and I've seen some poor players don the hoops in my time. Its all relative I know but every time I see Brynnar's name on the teamsheet, I realise how poor we have become.

I think you have hit the nail firmly on the head Arch-there is no character in this team with nobody taking responsibility on the pitch.
Three things about our temporary manager which IMHO might mean that he is not the answer.

First of all the stupidity of waiting 40 mins (and seeing us go down 1-0)on Saturday before attempting to deal with Britton who had been running the game right from the off.
The second was to pick Shane Long again after such a dismal effort on Saturday-Long must surely have some hold over our last 3 managers, how else can he get picked?
Thirdly Rasiak was rested part way through Saturday's game presumably to be fit enough to start today.
What happened?
He didn't start and yet the ancient Bryn played for the whole of Saturday's game and started again today.

We need a new manager immediately who has been around the block and knows this division and who can wheel and deal in the transfer market and who might have a more open mind about our £2million man.
Every day is now a day lost with the transfer window about to open so having been quick to get rid of Rodgers surely the board had at the very least 2 or 3 who they would want to become the new manager and presumably the likes of Ferguson and Southgate are in the frame-if they hadn't then I would say that they are even more amateurish than most of us thought..

Gunnarsson one of our better players? You have to be kidding me??? He is sh*t, but saying that, the whole squad bar one or two are utter dog turd.

In your opinion.

I appreciate the guy tries hard but that really says it all. He wouldn't have looked out of place when we were in the 3rd or 4th Divisions but we are (supposed) to be a class or two above that now. Even average players have the occasional good game. You clearly just remember the occasional game.

And Andrew, if he is one of our best players then we truly are doomed.

He is NOT one of our best players. He is of limited talent but he puts in a lot of effort.
