Ferguson got asked about Sheff Wed & then Reading & he chose to answer about Reading first saying "It's got a great structure, bog club" etc.

He clearly wants the job - couldn't have been more obvious. Get him in Mr Mad FFS!

He sounded more interested in Sheff Wed job I thought - his first points made were about history and huge fan base......... thats 2-0 to Sheff Wed then ! .....unfortunately he didnt go on to compare the Chairmen..... one whose prepared to support tthe new manager to reinvigorate the club and the other who isnt....

That was more than what Ferguson Jnr was on at P'boro, so that wouldn't be a problem.___ West Stand Flash, why do you always believe everything you read in the papers? Even if Reading were hoping McDermott comes good, they'll be interviewing other candidates just in case. Sir John Madejski isn't a football man, but he is a very successful business man, and you don't become as successful as him by taking punts on individuals and refusing to consider other options available to his business'.

Ferguson is among the leading contenders to take over at the Madejski Stadium after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by the Royals earlier this month.


The 37-year-old is also on Sheffield Wednesday’s shortlist to take over from the axed Brian Laws – but

Nigel Worthington is thought to be the Owls’ first choice.


Ferguson, who was sacked by Peterborough in November, said: “With the situation of me being unemployed, I’d be a fool not to speak to clubs.


“Am I interested in talking to Sheffield Wednesday or Reading? The answer to that would be yes, I am interested.”


Meanwhile, Ferguson has hit back at Posh director of football Barry Fry’s claims that he was tapped up by a

rival club prior to his sacking at London Road.


“I was not tapped up at all, the situation was clear, they lost confidence in me,” Ferguson said

Barry the bird boggler, tell me, what is the 'cheapest' option? Brendan Rodgers was on £400,000 a year. The next manager, be it Brian McDermott or A.Nother, is likely to earn about the same. Brian McDermott wouldn't be the cheapest option, he would be the most familiar.

I think Irvine is appropriate now. More experienced at this level and knows how to grind out results. Darren Ferguson would have been a more ideal, long term manager in the summer. We're not in a situation to appoint a manager like that right now.

"The decision was not taken lightly", Shaw told the club website.
"Alan did an extremely good job keeping us in the Championship and took us to the play-offs last season.
"However after a good start to the 2009-10 campaign we have only picked up seven points out of a possible 30 since our last away win at Sheffield Wednesday on 20 October.
"In that period we have only scored six goals and that sort of record is not something we could allow to continue without addressing it."

How fickle are Preston? Both sackings show the nature of football. 2 good seasons followed by 2 bad months and he's gone. It's not like they're in grave danger of relegation right now or anything. I'd happily see us capitalize from their stupidity, or Peterborough's to be honest.
