Lofty ambition perhaps but bat on, steadily accumulating runs in the hope that we can reach 650 with an hour left tomorrow, thus setting them 300 on the last day to avoid an innings defeat seems a pretty reasonable aim. Preston have made significant financial losses (£9.1m last year) since selling David Nugent. There current league position means that a January fire sale might be required depending on the state of other businesses that are funding loans to the club from Directors . Not sure he'd want to oversee such a project.
I suspect there may be far more sellers than buyers in the January window.

This is what also annoys me somewhat - they are paid as professional footballers, whoever the manager might be - yes, they might have a "special relationship" or whatever with BR, but they are being paid to play for Reading, not BR, therefore, they should play to the best of their ability, not go all huffy cos their fave manager has been sacked.

You do know Plymouth had scored 8 goals at home all season before Monday? Rodgers got 4 points from his last 3 games, McDermott has 2. The only performance which came close to Scunthorpe was Bristol City and we only equalised in injury time there. We at least looked like winning games under Rodgers, whereas we're seemingly happy to gain last gasp draws now he's gone.

RL, it may just be that Rodgers knows how to get the best out of McAnuff and his management of the individual and the side that he plays in gives him the confidence, the support and the platform to get him playing to his best.

He's also a player that can't reproduce his best form all the time (not uncommon amongst flair players of course, and especially wingers who are very dependant on the rest of the team to get them into the game) and that's why he's never quit fulfilled his potential. If he had fulfilled that potential then he wouldn't have spent the last few years where he has, he'd have been playing his part for a lower to mid table Premiership team.
