facaldaqui So you're saying you want him to sell, no matter who to? We'd be bought by idiots, asset stripped, and go straight down the plughole.

SJM asset stripped us when he 'cut the cloth' tbf....

its his business, and his decisions to cut the wage bill to ensure we are a viable company are completely the right decisions imo

If you earned (say) £20,000 last year and enjoyed a particular lifestyle, then were told that your income was being cut to £7,000 per year, would you continue to spend the same amount, when you haven't got any savings.

If the answer is yes, then I hope you recover from the trauma of your bankruptcy hearing quickly.

Asset stripping would be selling off the stadium, surrounding facilities and training ground. Suggesting cutting our budget to be more in line with our income is asset stripping is an insult to all the clubs who have really been asset stripped and left totally oxf*rd if not destroyed and no longer in existence.

Reading fans have had it so easy for the last 10 years that many are now a bunch of hysterical, spoilt primma donnas

I would respectfully submit that as a well organised human being I do have savings so your premise does not apply. I would also expect a well run business to have savings - mine did and was able to survive quite happily until such time as I chose to stop running it [and take the profits].

I agree!

It's as if a football club can have £50mill in the bank and the fans would be happy on a rainy day because of it. Or would they be scream that the board should go because they are not investing enough. This is football, you either spend it or go down. If you do go down you have to be careful, massive match tomorrow, Man Utd v. some other team who won like something once. Don't remember who they are. Wait, did they blow all their money and get relegated twice after being in champions league semi-final?

This so-called protest should not have anything to do with the amount of investment. What it should be focussing on is the very real threat of playing League 1 football come August. I would be very interested to learn just what the "Board", or whatever anyone wants to refer to them as, have planned to prevent this from happening. It wasn't that long ago that we were being promised with odious lies, spin and bullshit about premiership aspirations. I think we know the result of that :?

So a lot of us took the bait. We have tasted it and a fair number don't like the taste. What we want is to know what is on the next hook to be cast over the side. Just how do the club intend getting out of this mess. Sure as chips are chips, there will not be 11,000 STHs come the start of next season. Therefore, money will be even tighter. :o

BTW, the moon looks good tonight.

RoyalBlue Absolutely no idea who but what's so different about that?

When we wanted Waller out, we didn't realise Captain Bob was going to appear over the horizon and we didn't know that Roger Smee would come along to thwart him (with the help of others). When Smee had to give the club up to concentrate on his other business interests (Madejski please note!), we didn't know that Madejski was going to appear. Have Gold and Sullivan found a club yet (might as well keep with the publishing and there's more money in porn than cars!)?

How many clubs have actually ever ended up without a chairman/owner?

Doesn't necessarily have to be bought as an investment and at least the effects of the cost cutting are likely to be reducing the price each week!

Hang on - what reason would you buy the club for ? If it's not as an investment, then you may as well flush the dosh down the toilet.

Which multi-millionaire is going to throw their money away - unless of course they happen to be a Reading fan. I'm struggling to think of many of these.

Blue_Elm Something needs to be done, the problem as proved doesnt lie with Rodgers

Of course it does.
Shane Long was scoring goals in the premier league. As soon as BR got in charge he dropped him, along with all of Coppells other players.
I've been a Reading fan since I was 8 (1985) and the rise of the club has been dramatic during Madejski's time.
You'll do well to show some gratitude if you consider yourself a real supporter of the club, rather than slagging everyone off.
We're all upset to be shite this year, especially JM, as he's losing cash with it.

Oh I forgot, I owe everything to John Madejski!! Have you failed to spot two things? One he did quite well in kudos and people like you falling at his feet in worship. Two, our current decline under Madejski is even more dramatic, in terms of speed, than the rise.

As for the poor barsteward losing cash with it - please explain where and how much.

The key word is "will", fool.

Oh I understand now, and when do you propose we "will" be as big as Arsenal? Wake me up when Reading win 13 league titles, 10 FA cups, 2 league cups, 2 European trophies, 12 Charity/Community/whatever you wanna call it shield, have a 60,000 capacity stadium, and willing to spend more than £3million on a player.

If Mr Howe had said something along the lines of "Reading Football Club will be as big as Wigan and our new local derby is against Portsmouth." he'd be alot closer to the truth.

Nowhere in any of this can I discern what realistically anyone thinks this so called protest is going to achieve. Of a positive nature, that will help the team and club I mean. Rather than just embarrass us.

RFC limited could not sell the training ground as it is not actually owned by RFC Limited, only rented from JM (or another of his companies). Now it is no longer a green field site expect to see houses there within the next ten years

I hope your not saying he brought the land at a knock down price claiming he would build a training and is then gonna sell it on at a huge profit?

Next you'll be saying he got all the land around the stadium for free....
