Liverpool replay

by Barry the bird boggler » 10 Jan 2010 08:08

OK so, for those living in the Merseyside/Lancashire area what are the chances of the game being played on Wednesday and if it isn't will it just be moved back to 19/20 Jan or be played on 4th Round day (23rd?)

Not sure what reasons were given for todays Liverpool game being cancelled but guessing it was mainly the fact the most footways are still currently iced over and a lot of fans walk from various areas to the ground, which as you may know is also on top of a hill. However the local council have started clearing these as well as the roads and i wouldn't have thought Liverpool want a second game cancelled. Current weather reports show possibility of some more light snow but temperatures not as low as has been so there's certainly a chance of it happening.

Pictures on SSN this morning of the roads/pavements around Anfield seemed fine, very surprised todays game was called off.

I'm sure given the time they still have and without a heavy pour of snow; the game will go ahead as planned, the only possibility of snow is tonight so if there is heavy snow in Merseyside a request to The FA will go in tomorrow so latest we will find out i think is Monday night

My mate who went back to university yesterday in Liverpool didn't seem to think it was as bad at the moment. The pitch itself should be fine, it's more the footpaths etc.

However

An Everton STH I know who lives in the city said "temperatures aren't gona be improving any time soon personally i think it's pathetic they called sundays off"

Reading post says the match is still on for now. Don't see temperatures changing drastically so I think the match could still go through. Besides, a match in the snow could be great ( for those watching at home  ). We could see players falling, hesitating to run etc.

Why would that be funny? The pitch as said is fine, it's the surrounding areas and pathways to the stadium that are deemed unsafe for supporters.

The Met Office show the temperature at Liverpool of 1C or 2C between now and Wednesday when it rises to 4C.
They predict some sleet or light snow on Tuesday but rain on Wednesday .
So with no more frost between now and match time I think it will go ahead.

the game is on for now, but might be cancelled if there is snow.

Wonder if I'll get a job at the EP....
