Gunnarsson has always been an absolute quality player. But I still don't fancy him at right back even after that oustanding showing. Put a decent left winger with pace up against him and he'll really struggle. But then I've been expecting him to get slaughtered for ages but only Plymouth seem to have caused him real problems.

Benayoun should have torn him apart but spent half his time in the middle of the pitch.

Gunnar, I salute you.

One amazing game and everyone is creaming themselves. He's played horrible this season and I still think he's a waste of space.

I think he was awesome. A bit more work on the defensive side of his game and he's the new Murts. The composure on the ball, making millionaires look like idiots, was astounding tonight. A great player, always gives 100% for the club. I hope we see more of him.

"Reading goal: That is a really, really well-worked goal. Brynjar Gunnarsson, who was rubbish at Forest, morphs into Garrincha down the Reading left, doing Yossi Benayoun and then nutmegging Emiliano Insua before sending over a quite glorious cross that Shane Long glances into the Liverpool net from six yards. Oh my word."

Didn't get the bit about 'was rubbish at Forest'???? When? Or is this a soothsayer?

He's been superb at right back ever since he's slotted in there. ( I didn't see the Plymouth game )

I have always rated Gunnar. He was fantastic tonight but I really don't believe he can play 2 games in a week at 34 so i would still play Griffin on Saturday.

There is no way that he's played 'horrible' this season! Nor do I agree with those who thought he had a bad game in the first Liverpool game.

Always have thought he is a very good player who always gives 100%. Often goes about his game in a very unspectacular way and therefore his contribution goes unnoticed. Then there are moments of sheer brilliance like the way he created the winner tonight and the way he flicked the ball over one defender and outpaced the next in the last couple of minutes of the recent home game.

Would also like to see him pushed up for corners and freekicks as he is pretty deadly in the air in those situations.

I think Gunnarsson sorts out the fans. Those who say he lacks skill must have their eyes shut. Those who think he lacks pace must have been surprised by a couple of his darting interventions tonight. This is by no means the first time he's done legendary things. How about last season, when he singlehandedly rescued us against Cardiff after we went a man down?

Not that he's a real answer to anything; he's a utility player at the end of his career, but one who, unless my eyes just deceived me, can go 120 minutes against Liverpool. Revelatory.
