McDermott on Radio 5Live Friday 20.40

by Upper West?!? » 15 Jan 2010 20:57

For what it's worth, here is a quick summary of a live interview with BM on 5Live tonight.

"Didn't read the press following the LIverpool match. It's gone now. We're just trying to build on the result. 4 of the 5 matches I've been in charge of have shown improvement."

When asked about what he said to the team at half time after Pool's injury time goal, he said, "To be honest, it took me 2 or 3 minutes to get my composure back. I just kept saying we will get a chance in the second half. You've got to believe, there are always corners or set pieces, so you've got to keep pushing."

He was then asked whether he thought going to in-form Forest would be tougher than playing Liverpool. He said you can't make a comparison like that. As to his approach to tomorrow's match, that's where I thought there was some insight into this philosophy. "There is no way we can sit back while I have this job. We've got to Forest and make things happen as we did at Liverpool."

Thanks for that.

Yeah when it comes to the League, let's hope our beloved can produce better than a 4-1 defeat.

You forgot to mention the apple crumble. Got to admire a man who'd sacrifice a decent crumble to speak to the fans.

Percy's Rocket Let's hope we don't crumble tomorrow

Anyone else feel a tinge of annoyance that they can't perform when it really matters (ie the league?). I sincerely hope that ths will lead to better things but I can't help thinking that, without the 'big' opposition and no TV cameras, it'll be back to how we were.

I think it's probably more to do with having the confidence to play without fear and to be bold, which a game at Anfield witht eh pressure off allowed.
If McD can instil that in us to push on in the same way for league games we might just see a good end to the season.
