Yep, same fella.

Totton are sorry to see him go (one of their best players but a touch greedy) , even though he's only been there this season from what I can gather.

... looking on their website they aren't all that happy with his manner of departure - BUT then again he is a 'local' lad (to round here NOT Totton)

http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/afctotton/?section=clubnews&news_id=90549

... and is he by any chance a former Academy/Triallist for us (RFC that is :? ) - we certainly had a lad of that surname back in 2002?

Mike Budny, the guy who wrote that piece, is the Director of Football at AFC Totton - unusually he has a place on the bench!

He wrote the Match Report after W&E beat them 1-0 a few weeks ago and a particularly ungracious piece it was. (It has since been edited.) From the look of the thread on the Totton forum discussing Nathan Jack's departure Mr Budny may not be all that popular and it looks as if there are definite rumblings of discontent down there.

(Interesting that the player himself has chosen to contribute to the thread.)

AndyRFC Woke up and jumped on to a train to St Albans City v Maidenhead, got there match off. Went to pub and deliberated and ended up having a thoroughlly enjoyable trip to Stevenage v Cambridge via T Le Mesmer who had driven up from the Royal County

4-1 to the home side, and a good performance.

Cracking day was had by all in the end, and ended up seeing a very good display from Stevenage. They are a cut above Cambridge all day who look a shadow of the team that got to the playoffs last season. Graham Westley seems to be building a good footballing team that wouldn't look out of place in the league, although it should be said that from what I heard they don't like Chris Day in goal and Darren Murphy in midfield. Every team has their moaning fans, and it seems I was stood next to them!!

2nd midweek running complete wipeout locally - obviously no NL games over last w/e either.

Most people think it may thaw a bit for next w/e 16th - trouble is that only brings more flooding/waterlogged pitches - some clubs who couldn't play over the holiday period, haven't kicked a ball in anger since mid Dec or earlier and some much lower level clubs haven't played a league match since early in November!

A few clubs in Reading Town's league are as many as eight league matches adrift.

Badshot Lea, in the CCL Premier, who groundshare at Farnborough, already have 6 games in hand of leaders Camberley and are up to 10 games behind others - last played a league game on 28th November.
They'll have to come up with something very creative to catch up - particularly difficult since they have to play 2nd fiddle to 'boro @ Cherrywood Rd - who have their own backlog to deal with.
They're both probably still involved in a welter of League and County Cup competitions too!

Anywho - should this w/e program be unaffected, the following 'local' clubs are in action:-

FA Vase 4th Round

Chertsey Town v Plymouth Parkway
New Mills v Witney Utd - the BlanketBoys have to travel to a club very close to the Peak District - SE of Stockport

CONF-South
Basingstoke Town v Newport County
Bromley v Maidenhead United
Woking v Hampton and Richmond Borough
... and
Dover Athletic v Havant and Waterlooville
Staines Town v Lewes

ISTHMIAN ONE South
Fleet Town v Whitstable Town

SOUTHERN Premier
Farnborough v Clevedon Town
Oxford City v Banbury United
Stourbridge v Didcot Town
SOUTHERN One Midland
Burnham v Atherstone Town
Slough Town v Chesham United
Soham Town v Marlow
SOUTHERN One S&W
Abingdon United v Mangotsfield United
AFC Totton v Bracknell Town
Thatcham Town v VT FC
Windsor & Eton v Hungerford Town

COMBINED COUNTIES Premier
Camberley Town v Chessington & Hook
Cove v Bookham only if dried out enough - got the all clear to resume playing from the County FA, the Council and the Water Board following their 'drainage' problems :?
Sandhurst Town v Wembley

HELLENIC Premier
Abingdon Town v Pegasus Juniors
Bicester Town v Binfield
Marlow United v Shrivenham
Reading Town v Flackwell Heath
Wantage Town v Ascot United
Div One East
Thame United v Holyport
14:15 KO Woodley Town v Eton Wick
Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup
13:15 KO Newbury v Olney Town
13:15 KO Wokingham & Emmbrook v Padbury United

WESSEX One
AFC Aldermaston v Horndean
Farnborough North End v Amesbury Town
Fleet Spurs v Whitchurch United
Tadley Calleva v Warminster Town

... not sure quite where I'm bound for - will try and get to a Vase game if poss. but to keep to a 'new' ground involving clubs in my 'targetted' leagues, would involve either:
Royston (between Bedford & Cambridge) v Tipton or
Long Buckby (nr Northampton) v Epsom & Ewell.
... would need the M25 to co-operate too.

Last night a group of W&E fans went down to Stag Meadow to help clear the pitch and terracing (such as it is!).

For some reason nothing happening tonight, but, although most of the snow will be gone for sure by the morning, we'll be back down there at 9am tomorrow to fork the pitch to aid drainage in readiness for the ref's inspection at 11am. Totton's game is also on at the moment and as it's against Bracknell there is no doubt whatsoever they'll get 3 points from that, but we'd really like to maintain the 11 point advantage by getting a win against Hungerford.

Personally I'm not too hopeful as the pitch is going to be incredibly heavy anyway and there is on and off rain forecast for the next 48 hours.

... few more gone this AM from my list above - there's a surprise - matches now OFF at:

Woking
Soham
Camberley
Aldermaston
Farnborough North End

... supposedly matches deffo ON @ Cherrywood Rd ('boro), Totton & Windsor

...personally I'd be wary of Totton though - went there before when they'd confirmed 'game on' only for the ref to call it off as we got there! :x

... very much doubt if Tadley & Fleet Spurs will play too.

W&E 5-1 Hungerford Town.

Another impressive performance with 3 or 4 shots cleared off the line before we pulled clear.

Took a while for our superiority to convert into goals but having conceded an equaliser with less than 20 minutes left we had a dynamic last quarter and knocked in 4 in quick succession.

Still looking very very good.

2-1 to Boro on what was a very sodden pitch. Took an 85th minute goal to win it having been pegged back by a deflected Clevedon effort after McDonald put Boro opened the scoring from the spot.

Other Results from elsewhere - which wasn't much :?

CONF
P@xford 0-1 Tamworth :D - Stevenage still top ....

CONF-S
Bromley 1-2 Maidenhead :)
Staines 2-1 Lewes
Thurrock 3-1 Bath City

... and one which might make RR splutter a bit - though hardly a shock

Southern One S&W

AFC Totton 9 [Nine] -0 Bracknell

.... I braved the M25 but went anti-clockwise round as far as Dartford and nipped a short way inside the M-way to see:
ISTHMIAN One North - VCD Athletic 1-2 Waltham Forest.
Not a great game but OK allowing for the conditions - bit of a feisty East End bruise-up - surprisingly only 1 red card.
Traffic was fine until we got to Crayford High St - stupid one way system with daft light phasing - didn't miss much, plenty of parking outside and inside the ground - nice big clubhouse - though the (Courage) Mild was off.

Four Of Clubs Southern One S&W

AFC Totton 9 [Nine] -0 Bracknell

Remarkably, Bracknell are still only 5 points adrift of safety.

Mind you, reaching 5 points, let alone 5 more, would be something of an achievement for Bracknell. They've lost 22 of 23 games so far this season, conceding 95 goals, letting in 8 or more five times.

Maidenhead beaten 1-0 by Barrow in the Trophy.

Early goal knocked Maiders back in a game which saw plenty of attacking but few clear cut chances. Maidenhead did shake the bar at the death and a draw probably would of been a fair result but the cost of going up there and possibly losing meant it was probably a good thing to save money.

Credit to the 30/35 Barrow fans that came all that way!
