The different countries that Reading players have come from

by Thaumagurist* » 25 Jan 2010 15:19

I can't find the old thread that I did (I actually trawled through all 180 odd pages to see if I could find it!) which listed all the countries that our players have come from. Off the top of my head:

Antigua
Australia
Bermuda
Bulgaria
Cameroon
Canada
Czech Republic
Ecuador
England
France
Germany
Georgia
Holland
Hungary
Iceland
Ivory Coast
Jamaica
Liberia
Mali
Malta
N. Ireland
Nigeria
Poland
Republic of Ireland
Scotland
Senegal
South Africa
South Korea
Trindad & Tobago
Turkey
USA
Wales

Have I missed off any other countries???

I was going to say Cisse isn't, but I suddenly remembered the guy on loan from Wet Sham who kicked in the free kick for Gunnarsson to score against Sheffield United....Sekuo Baraji or something like that, isn't it?

DR Congo for Lita
That meant that we had 11 different nationalities in the starting line-up in one game according to saturday's match programme (it was a long journey home)

Wiki says not:
Leroy Halirou Bohari Lita (born 28 December 1984), more commonly known as Leroy Lita, is a Congolese-born English footballer who plays for Middlesbrough.

If Kebe counts as Malian then Lita has to be English I'm afraid.

Which is a bit of a murking for Leroy as he could've had 50 full caps by now and played in a couple of AFCONs

Does that mean that Gilkes counts as being Barbadian? As if so that another one for the list!

He played for Barbados AFTER he left us. Though I suspect his parents or grandparents came from Barbados rather than Gilkes himself.
