Barry the bird boggler Steve Coppell. That is all.

I'd like to see him come back and take us down - if only to dispel the myth that he's some sort of messiah and not in any way responsible for our current plight.

Ian Royal nice of you to remind me. But fairly irrelevant to the point I was making.

Not really. You said " we'll see" and thats what we've seen so far. Just stating facts.

Ian Royal Sorry, why is it obvious he won't get the job?

Because he's clearly not up to it for a start.

We'll see. And it's not like that means anything. Rodgers wasn't up to it. Bullivant wasn't up to it. Burns wasn't up to it. Pardew didn't look up to it at this stage of his management. They all got appointed.

Fair point.

But with McDermott we know he's not up to it before he is appointed.

i 2nd the Meggo call quite simply on the back of what he did at Bolton 2 seasons ago. Curbishley also, but not a hope in hell.

andrew1957 It is too late for a new manager now - we are not going to spend anything in the transfer window. I say appoint McD and see what happens.

Why is it too late? Total rubbish.Of course its not too late. Any new manager will have to work with what he's got but might do more with it than the two novices in charge thus far this season. If we fail to win on Saturday its time for McD to step aside. If we do win then fair enough keep him on board and see how things pan out over the ensuing three or four games....we have to start winning as of Saturday.

"We'll see". "'" denoting a contraction of "We will".

Which is exactly right, as we'll see if he's up to the job over the next 3 or 4 games, and in fact, most probably, the rest of the season. I see no reason to begin seriously judging him any quicker than I did Rodgers.

It's academic anyway, seeing as no amount of "New Manager" Threads with clueless people posting who they want is going to make the blindest bit of difference to who is finally formally appointed. Quite rightly.

Interesting take on the concept of a discussion forum................
