Hoop Blah Maguire I think we probably have ten games left that we have a decent chance of winning
Not a big fan of this mentality to be honest. We could beat anybody in this league and whilst some fixtures are obviously harder than others, you have to go into every one looking to win.
Not many foresaw a win away at Preston, for example.
Totally agree, and apart from a few games I think we have a chance of winning any game in this league. However, we have a far greater chance of winning at home to Barnsley this weekend than we do winning at Cardiff in April.
I think we have to go into every game thinking we can win it, and doing everything we can to pick up 3 points, but realistically there are times when you have to pick you battles a bit, and games that if we don't win we're letting good chances pass us by.
Agree with both of you about every game needing to be treated the same and we cannot pick and choose.
If you are playing one of the top sides they may have an off-day and be there for the taking whereas one of the lower clubs could be fighting for their lives and on the day play above themselves.
Managers and pundits often say that everybody can beat everybody in this division and that is why games against teams around us are really no more important than against the top sides.
The Premiership is a different ball game altogether and there are mini-leagues within a league so games against teams around you are more important by virtue of a win denying a "competitor" 3 points but in this division the gaps are nowhere near so big and the argument doesn't wash ,e.g Peterboro beating us hasn't done much for them as they have hardly beaten anybody else.
Also I thought we had put to bed the question of luck but posters keep on bringing it up.
Last night we got a penalty away from home (something that people say seldom happens but look also at the Liverpool game)but the point is we didn't take advantage of that opportunity to go 1-1.
It wasn't bad luck that caused Gylfi to miss,it was bad finishing and that is the common theme of our season.
Our strikers this season look no better than Div 1 standard and we are heading that way unless the new Icelander is a reincarnated Jamie Cureton.
It's a lot to ask of a newcomer to English football and our record with others coming to us from abroad like Fae,Cisse,Marek and Kebe isn't great.
The least we should expect for the rest of the season is 100% effort and 100% concentration and then we keep everything crossed.
