Thaumagurist* I did wonder if it did have anything to do with the colours they used to wear, I remember their horrible away shirt in the mid 90's.

It's the colour of the original Newton Heath club

It's a brilliant way to protest - makes the point stunningly well and very visibly, easy for anyone to support, it's non-violent and it doesn't stop anyone turning up and supporting the team.

Yesterday in some sections of OT there was more green and gold than red to be seen - but iuntersting the pwoer of the Old Trafford media control that it's hardly been mentioned in the mainstream press (that I've seen, anyway!) .

Thing is, how will wearing a green and gold scarf make them fold?.........unless they're doing it to prevent anyone from buying Manchester Utd merchandise, but then that will surely hurt the club even more!?

A tiny drop in merchandise vs tens of millions in interest repayments ...

how will wearing a green and gold scarf make them fold?.

I don't think that's what they're after ...

I agree with Dirk - its a protest. Its the fans telling the Glazers that they aren't wanted there. It's a non-violent, its inclusive, its visible.

Exactly - says more than a chorus of booing could ever do.

On another note, the official Portsmouth Premier League website gives the below :

Apparently this is because the last two bills to their ISP are unpaid.

I hadn't heard of the Green and Gold thing, I just assumed it was some plastic giving away few scarfs thing done by Utd to try and generate some atmosphere!

Large numbers in Green and Gold though so fair play. I actually hope it works out for them and they get rid of the Glazers without too much long term damage to the club.

Portsmouth have also stopped some funding for a youth development geurnsey because they can't pay the £2000 cost.

They are seriously in the shit.

My southampton supporting mate is in hysterics.

Deadlock
cheeryoleary Mr. A is listiening to BBCRB. Should put Palace in 21st place, 4 pts ahead of us.

20th - they'll be above Scunny on goal difference.

After last night, they are in 21st.

Also, the administrator rang Warnock yesterday afternoon and instructed him not to play Victor Moses as he (the administrator) didn't want the Creditor's most prized asset possibly getting injured. The interview the man gave with SSN this morning was priceless...

"When I informed Mr Warnock of my decision he made his feelings that he was upset with the decision very clear, but agreed that it was my call to make"

:D :D :D

I wonder JUST how many swear words Colin used in that phone conversation!!!!!

Also, Palace only had 3 subs last night.

That Friday Feeling http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/

I guess they've paid the bill.

I would imagine that one of the directors has put his hand in his pocket to do that, as noted above you can't have one of your major sales outlets out of action because of a couple of hundred quid.

That Friday Feeling
EDIT - wtf? http://www.pfcfinancialservices.co.uk/home/

Well, they have me convinced. Pass my cheque book.

Ascenta enters UK retail marketAscenta International is moving into the UK retail market with the launch of the Ascenta Special Situations Resource fund.

The group, which specialises in private equity, has already launched a number of closed-end funds, but is keen to expand its base in the UK.

The Special Situations Resource fund will be Guernsey listed and aim to take advantage of distressed markets and weak commodity prices. The fund will invest in small, mid and large-cap holdings such as energy companies and alternative fuel companies.

Seventy per cent of the portfolio will be invested into illiquid assets and larger-cap resource issuers, while the other 30 per cent will be invested in special situations, targeting smaller public issuers trading well below their value and earlier-stage private issuers.

Peter Simmons, director of international sales at Ascenta International, said: "Our aim is to make a fund where the smaller investor can come in and out with relative ease. The minimum investment on the fund is $10,000 (£6,560), it has weekly pricing and, unlike our previous funds, the investor won't be locked in."

Mr Simmons said the fund would invest in industries such as biodegradable fuels and alternative energy, where the company sees a number of opportunities. It will also focus investment on countries where governments support such initiatives.

He said Ascenta would consider further funds in a similar vein - such as an Islamic or sharia-compliant version of the fund, where the director has previous experience - or perhaps a version that does 50 per cent illiquidity or 50 per cent special situations

I don't understand why clubs do this really. Do Palace have a reserve or youth team? u18s? Can they not at least put four members of the youth team on the bench and give them the 1st team match preparation experience particularly for an away game at St James'? Even if they don't play the will at least feel part of the set up and gain some positive experience out of it?

I would imagine that the players on the bench have to be registered as first team players and allocated a squad number. Most club's youth team players aren't registered, and aren't given squad numbers. They can play in the reserves, but not the first team. That's my educated guess anyway.
