brendywendy "Thor hammers tykes "

relegation threatened RFC pulled off only their 2nd home league win of a dire campaign with a superb 6-0 win against fellow strugglers barnsley.
new icelandic loan striker Thorvaldsson scored a perfect hattrick with a header and goals with left and right boot, the first of which was scored in lightning quick time after only 30 seconds to settle the madejski crowds early nerves, everything went right from there, sigurdson, and macanuff scoring before half time, with another goal from long in the second half, before Thor ensured barsley were hammered with two more in the last the minutes, the last of which; a 30 yard thunderbolt.

The thing is, 'fellow strugglers Barnsley' are are 9 places and 10 points above us. They are closer to the play-offs than to us (in points terms).

2-1 win though just to destroy any hopes of a decent protest

We can't defend, we have a scout as manager and the players only motivate themselves for cup games

1 v 2, yet another nail in the coffin. Barnsley are a cracking bet this weekend.

12 months of decline is brought to a juddering halt by an inspired (inspired not insipid) performance from a rejuvenated Royals team.

Whatever the result, this match will be watched by thousands of idiots many of whom deciding to post page upon page of their ill informed nonsense on this site once they return home.

If things don't go our way in the first half (meaning we aren't ahead at the interval) the sound of mentally challenged twats like West Stand Flash booing the man who almost certainly saved us from oblivion will ring out from the East Stand.

Would be nice to see, but sending a goalie upfront when we are level is unlikely  ...... Unless he shoots from the halfway line, in which case i will eat my own hair.

Reading 1 Barnsley 1

Penalty misses, more barn door/banjo finishing, but a promising display which is all that really matters.

LOL at this brilliant non-sequitur.

Yeah, damn that WEST STAND Flash and his oafish ways, he's right at home with us in the EAST STAND where he so obviously resides with the other proles. Got to laugh at your fantasy inter-stand rivalry, as if the West Stand somehow houses folk who are a mixture of Peter Ustinov and Rinus Michels.

Score prediction? Pfff, 1-1? Even if we win 7-0 it doesn't change the very obvious reality that we are going down quicker than Danielle Lloyd on a Premier League footballer.

Ustinov & Michels
I've wondered that too.
40 quid difference over the season?
Feel that massive gap.

Arch
Man Friday [Have we ever won a must-win match in our (recent) history?]

4-0 at Derby was a must-win match (and for that reason an astonishing result for RFC). Unfortunately, other things had to happen too, and didn't.

Barnsley is not a "must-win" match, by the way.

Arch. looking at the table would suggest that Saturdays game is exactly that. We need 30+ points to survive, not getting them against an indifferent mid table Barnsley, whilst not fatal for our survival chances, makes survival considerably less likley.

The Prisoner Reading 1 Barnsley 1

A promising display is all that matters? What total boll*cks. Winning and getting 3 points is ALL that matters in our position. Promising displays get you f*ck all points. No doubt you will be happy with 'promising displays' in div 1.

I have a funny feeling we are going to really stuff Barnsley. Or maybe I'm just feeling funny.

The truth is there have been games were we've created loads of chances, but haven't taken them. The odds are we will get a day when the footballing gods smile at us, and they will go in, and Long won't be offside.

I am working tomorrow. Last time I worked on a Saturday we beat Blackpool 2-1 for our only home league win this season.
So, Reading 2 Barnsley 1.

Could you do a little more Saturday work, please ? I'm sure it'll do you good and we'll let you have a decent synopsis post-match.

After the amount of red wine I had consumed before I posted any attempt at irony would (and did) completely pass me by
