Barnsley were dreadful at Oakwell and can't be any worse then they were that day or the Carling Cup for that matter. A better side now under Robbins.

Think it'll be a 1-1 draw.

Broxroyal I am working tomorrow. Last time I worked on a Saturday we beat Blackpool 2-1 for our only home league win this season.
So, Reading 2 Barnsley 1.

Could you do a little more Saturday work, please ? I'm sure it'll do you good and we'll let you have a decent synopsis post-match.

Thanks Franchise. This decent synopsis will appear on here will it?

That's a bit of a leap I'm afraid.

Enjoy your shift

Rev Algenon Stickleback H I have a funny feeling we are going to really stuff Barnsley. Or maybe I'm just feeling funny.

The truth is there have been games were we've created loads of chances, but haven't taken them. The odds are we will get a day when the footballing gods smile at us, and they will go in, and Long won't be offside.

I'm afraid those days do not happen when you are really sh!t.

That was the only bright spot of that dismal season. It can be argued that we have not had one at all this season (in the league).

30 years ago (give or take a month) we beat Barnsley 7-0 at Elm Park.

We were on a bad run prior to this as well.

Mike Kearney scored at least one - is he still employed by the club?

It was between Xmas & New year - remember Gary Heale got at least 2 and maybe 3.

It was also the last match Alan (Sniffer Clark) their player manager ever played - he hung up his boots the next day, and he also took the squad down a coal mine as a reaction, so they could see the sort of things that their supporters had to face in real life.

It must have been pre-1979 - once Mrs Thatcher came along we didn't have coal mines any more.

The game was Christmas 1979 - Thatcher came to power in the May of that year - it probably took a few years for the relevant legislation to be passed

1-2
Hume 14
Hume 35
McAnuff 72

Two nil down at half time with a small fight back in the second. Confirmation of our inability as a team this season.

floyd__streete Got to laugh at your fantasy inter-stand rivalry, as if the West Stand somehow houses folk who are a mixture of Peter Ustinov and Rinus Michels.

The fantasy is all yours.

Who would feel the need to rival morons who never stop talking about how much noise they create when supporting their team yet when it suites them, like when the half time whistle goes with the score at 0-0, they start to boo the same team............................these boos always emanate from the East stand.....................go figure (or just lie down if it all gets too much for you)

1997/98 all over again.

If we are now at the point of talking about must win games then things are bad. 97/98 reminds me of walking down the Tilehurst Rd with Ark Royal etc saying from March onwards that this is a must win game. To start this in January shows that we are either really in the shit or that HNA is awash with 10 year olds!

FTR, I stuck £10 on Barnsley at 11/5. If we are going down then I may as well make some money out of it!

I have done the same on betfair - split £25 on a draw and Barnsley win. Both will give me a tidy profit overall by way of compensation for potentially being inconsolible tonight. The long and the short of it is that I am happy to pay £25 for us to WIN!!!!
