the reason there is no police at many games is because each game is catogorised on a scale of A to C and apart from ones that there is a big following ie newcastle or big games were you have to have police they wont turn up

They are talking about the idiots on their forum. (Although it does go off on a tangent somewhat!)

I remember a game at Elm Park some years back when there were a bunch of them in the South Bank. It kicked off then.

Spoke to a couple of thee Tangos at rugby today who said the little gang of Barnsley fans were all noise and no action. As soon as the Tangos moved towards them they went quiet and got on their coaches....

The bit about policing really isn't an example of 'cloth cutting' as it was at least in the Prem days that we had non police attended games. It's also down to the police whether they attend or not, the club don;t decide to save money by not having them there and for a long time it was a bugbear of Mr Doyle that the police saw us as an easy revenue earner so imposed a significant presence on us (all on overtime) and it took a long time to get them to agree that not every game needed the entire TVP to be in attendance.

Of course none of that is any consolation if it kicks off unexpectedly....

But then at least the club do not pay for the Police attendance.

Not what i saw. They nearly got through the safety gate a couple of times and the stewards were struggling to hold them back until more arrived.

The trouble kicked off just after the game when some Barnsley fans spotted a Tango filming them as they came out.

The didn't like this (I wonder why?) and stormed after him. He moved faster than the Road Runner back into the stadium.

This prompted almost the entire steward population over to the South Stand.

Quite amusing after a dreary game.

Royal Lady And however you like to say it, it still comes down to the fact that by having no police presence at a certain game, we are cutting costs!

I think there's a difference between cutting costs and not incurring unnecessary expense.

willz_royal 30 barnsley thugs with scarves over their faces spoiling for a fight next to their coaches, and no stewards/ policemen in sight.

Very dangerous situation, with no protection; where was the line of stewards? Policecars were better late than never I suppose
What did the police say when you phoned them to report this? Did they thank you for your timely call and promise to relay the message to the commander on the ground?

Breach of the peace mate. Making a noise at the Madstad is frowned upon.

Breach of the peace the old common law offence now replaced by s5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

Almost as good as saying when asked by a constable what you are doing saying 'I am going about my lawful occasions'

Looking at the comical side of this situation what the Barnslee Boyzzzz don't realise is that we've got the cavalry waiting patiently inside the burger stall. Now that would be funny.
