his sprint down the right wing in the second half last night showed what he's capable of.
Admittedly it took him a few minutes to recover but it was wonderful to see.

Snowball Kebe's goal last night moves him to almost 5 times the goal-scoring rate of McAnuff

...and another good assist for Jobi last night. Why try to split opinion about them when they are both producing? It's not like they are in competition for one place.

I'm not splitting. I am making the most obvious comparison, more important
because for many McAnuff has been player of the season

Macs' shooting is dross and he gave away a dire goal at WBA
but "that's OK" because he does other good things

I raise the issue because too many fans refuse to give credit where it is due

But when one winger scores nearly five times as often as the other
that is well-worth pointing out. if MAC was the one getting the goals
we'd never hear the last of it.

Kebe is a very good winner and scores at quite a high rate for a winger

You say you're not splitting opinion then go on to do exactly that. Most people who say McAnuff has played well (which he has overall) temper their praise with comments that he needs to improve his scoring rate. He's also rightly been pulled up for his recent (relatively) weak performances and lapses in defensive concentration. So, to quote everybody and nobody as saying "that's OK" is nonsense deliberately designed to polarise opinion. Same as with your "if MAC was the one getting the goals we'd never hear the last of it" straw man.

Similarly, Kebe has rightly been criticised over the last two years for mostly not playing as well as we know he can. That's pretty much unarguable in my opinion as someone who has probably watched about 80% of his performances. In fact, it's kind of backed up by the stats because a player of his natural ability and speed should be absolutely storming the stats charts. It's great that he's playing well, but in the past he's tended to go off the boil every few games. In that respect he's similar in Jobi, only I would argue that whereas Kebe has found his shooting boots, Jobi is far more likely to get his head down and graft even when he's not producing much offensively. So each have their plus and minus points, and each play for our team so stop trying to play one off against the other. Take a look at the forum - Kebe is getting praised to the hilt right now because he's playing well - strange how that works, isn't it?

Ian Royal So why when you're comparing someone because they're being hailed as potential player of the season (based on form up until recently when he's gone a little off the boil) are you including statistics for Kebe from last season and the Premier League?

They have no relevence to performance this season and who should be PotS. Kebe got virtually all of his assists last year and just under half of his goals. Try a comparison of this season to this season. That might be a relevant.

The most recent stats are for THIS SEASON... Hence it says THREE goals not 7

Next try?

Maguire Quite right too - Reading fans are on his back to a ridiculous extent, just itching to have a pop at him.

Yep. The typical loud moronic minority who decide they dislike someone and then just shout abuse at them no matter what they do and what point of the game it is.

It's not ALL about you.

I post because the criticism was:

Yeah, good on you Jimmy - that was your 4th or 5th goal in 70-odd appearances in 2 years and you give it the big'un, come back and do that when you aren't flattering to deceive

and as I say, factor in his goals and he's as important as Mac
has assists almost on a par with Mac (official stats)

Not having been at either the WBA game or the one last night I speak from a position of knowing feck all!

I have been critical of Kebe. Sure he has the ability but he has been hideously inconsistent and infuriatingly frustrating. By the sounds of things, BMcD pulled a master stroke last night by taking Kebe to the fans and making a point. I will be very interested to hear how he does at Blackpool.

I think we need to be patient with him at Blackpool because their pitch is a state. Having said that, if things aren't going well for him, so long as he digs in and puts in his shift I hope fans don't get on his back.

So, you're at work and all day everyday no matter how hard you try, you hear abuse, snide comments and negativity about your ability, to do your job, from colleagues, customers, clients, rivals and 'supporters'

Mmmmmmmmmm, I wonder what good that would do for your confidence?

Depends on your character - some would be motivated to really prove everyone wrong. Others, would lose all confidence and go to pieces. I think we could do ourselves all a favour by really getting behind Kebe however good or bad he's doing - we need a Kebe chant and a better nickname than 'Bambi on ice'.

Agreed, a revival of 'Jimmy Kebe, Kebe, here comes Jimmy Kebe' song with credit to whoever it was that twigged that the 'Johnny Reggae' tune was perfect for him!

Jimmy did very well early in the season, has done well recently
and he's averaging a goal every 545 minutes (6 games)

When you consider that Jobi has had 27 starts and scored just that one goal
and that Jimmy is outscoring attacking central midfielder Howard...

and the higher up, the better the goal-scorer, Long beats Gylfi (on goal-scoring), and they plus Noel beat Rasiak and Church

Kebe (goal-scoring) is 4.5 times better than Jobi
