rollsy posted this on a different subject but it fits in here better

I'm actually starting to come round to JM's way of thinking regarding investment in the club, (and i know that i am going to get a lot of stick for this) But if you look at the state of various clubs right now, cardiff, pompey, pallace, county, glasgow rangers ect that we know of, plus all the clubs that the financial situation has not got media interest, but are still in deep crap. Perhaps it is in our best interests to weather the storm for the time being while all these clubs sink, rather than over invest and end up in the same situation, because although we are all deeply pasionate about our club and want the big time, we are a small team with comparitively little support and as such does not receive the gate revenue/shirt sales of the likes of derby county or even forrest. Although I would love to see a return of the premiership i would not like to see it happen at the expence of the future of the club should the investment not work out as with Leeds. I suppose at the end of the day, all i am trying to say is JM did not make a ton of cash by making bad investment decisions.

Hull are shipping £1.5m a month. It's almost tempting to say that Premier League survival in 2008 might have jeopardised our medium-term financial stability. There's a stom a-brewing and so long as we avoid relegation this season we may be in a better position than most to ride it out. Then we can have another shot at it when the Tories have cleaned up the mess.

Carlin20 Pompey have the 5th highest tickets in the prem, still averaged only 300 empty seats last season. New ground = many more fans. Apperantly Pompey have 9,000 st waiting list. Only thing you have on Pompey is stadium and that's not for long.

Carlin20 Pompey in a right mess?

Southampton yes.

Pompey, far from it, debts down to 30 million now and in the prem'. The club is one of the most stable clubs in the prem'. Sold 80 millions worth of player alone in the last year or so. Buyer a fraud? Stop reading the press.

All is fine at Pompey.

I think it's more of a will Reading or southampton go out of business first?

Carlin20

Ian Royal Hoop Blah, please tell me those figures are from Portsmouth's own Annual Review?

They're taken from one of the worlds most trusted sources of company information which references their annual report yes.

I don't interprut annual accounts so I may have missed out a few numbers here and there that shed more light on the situation, but the current liabilities are as stated at the 2008.

Start of 2008? Say you say. This is middle of 2009. As I say, things have dramatically changed for the better.

Anyway, I'm off, be lucky all.

P.s Ian you're a horrible clueless bloke

Dramatically changed he said...

I hate to tell you I told you so, but!!!

Heard from a (usually) reliable source that unless ALL the football creditors are paid in full as they are due, before the start of next season, Pompey will start the season with a further points deduction.

It seems that they can sell the remains of the club through admistration, reach agreement with the creditors for a discounted settlement and survive as a club, but Football League rules specifically cover this eventuality and impose further sanction.

Carlin20 2 FA CUPS
2 CHAMPS OF ENGLAND
5 SEMIS
2 LOSING FA CUP FINALS

READING - NOTHING

5 Semis - how is that winning something? Oh and for the record I am getting a semi reading all this again. "I'm in the know. My mate's a mate of Peter Storrie and the debt is only £30m", "you don't believe the NOTW do you?" "we're in the Prem", "RFC go bust before Pumpey"....this is comedy gold.

I have invited him to come back on here to chat once Portsmouth were out of Administration and were being run in a sustainable and viable manner, and/or to discuss why supporting an FC Portsmouth phoenix type club wouldn't be a good way of reclaiming the identity of his town's Club.

So far no response.
