There was a game on the day I was born.

We got dicked 4-0 by Watford away in the old 3rd division.

Looks like it was a bit of a topsy-turvy season as we beat Colchester and then Bradford PA both 4-1 in the following games

Berry I was 40 on Sunday and amongst pressies lavished on me, my mum got me a cracking present which was the Reading programme of the day I was born, luckily I was born on a Saturday , anyway the programme is for the 28th Feb 1970 Home to Rochdale and we were top of the table, although we had played 2 more games than 2nd place.
Fantastic present to recieve, even a little press cutting inside saying we won 1-0.
What fixture corresponds with your DOB?

That was when Rochdale's Tony Buck broke his leg in a collision with Steve Death at the Town End. Awful injury that finished his career. I could hear the crack from behind the goal.

Terminal Boardom Well, having a birthday in the middle of the cricket season rules me out

Now, I wonder if Ark Royal will contribute to this thread? He famously said in 1996 that Reading never lose on his birthday. Apart from getting totally vvankered with him the night before, and me jumping out of a moving car, the game was a complete disaster. Reading 1 Palace 6

What a pcunt!

Yes, I remember. My 40th birthday and I had previously had a really good record. Palace totally butt-fu cked us that day. Missus had arranged a surprise 40th bash for me in the evening, so did not feel so bad about a dreadful display.

Maria Kr. Just out of interest, where can one look this up?

I have the complete Reading record going all the way back to Southern League days, so let me know your birthday and I will find out.

To be honest who cares? I only started having an affinity with them from around 1990 when I got the lovely Rothmans' guide.

Royal-DLG We played the day after my birthday.

12/01/1991
Preston 1-2 Reading

We finished 15th in the Old Division 3 8)

A league which saw us, Fulham (21st), Preston (17th), Wigan (10th), Bolton (4th), Swansea (20th), Birmingham (12th), and Stoke (14th) compete.

i remember being at this game clearly, went by train with no friends. played on plastic pitch, Maskell scored our 1st penalty awarded in a whole year, Senior with the winner. Deepdale was a total hole then, but with a strange charm to the hoplesley decaying big terrace behind the goal where the away end is these days.

First game I ever took my younger daughter to was on her 6th birthday, 6-0 at home to West Ham :D

First goal gave her a bit of a shock when everyone started jumping up and down but she was getting into it by about the 3rd goal. In fact when they didn't score for a few minutes after the 6th she turned and asked me when we were going to dance again?!

Happy days!
