That's the Southampton League cup game in '76. In hindsight it probably wouldn't have been that funny if the guy hadn't been trying to fight half the southbank...

Other memorable lol moments are the inflatable sheep being "arrested" from the southbank for, presumably, inciting the Swindon fans.

This story came up during Sunday at half time when we were talking about the half time pizza give-away competition...

Anyway, for the first and only time i remember the pizza was given to the visiting fans, so Everton fans got pizza as the fixture was over the festive period leading to a chorus of chants "feed the scousers, let them know its christmas time..!" which was taken in good spirit by the travelling fans and still very comical looking back on that day now.

Tony Le Mesmer the 1st and only streaker to date at the Mad. he slipped the stewards about 3 times, took a mock pen before dissapearing out the back of the North Stand never to be seen again!

If that's the bloke who had nothing on the bottom but a black leather jacket on then you're right.
Recognised him from Tadley. Didn't seem the sort to be honest.

Big Foot
percy_freeman Just remembered another great day with a Geordie lads constant banter behind Shakas goal at Cambridge. We played them twice up there that season, league and cup.

I know the lad you reference there, he is mad as a box of frogs 8)

"Shaka - You rule the six yard box. You rule the showers with your massive dong." And so on. For 90 minutes.

My earlier post and I am glad that my memory served me correctly. Great photo!

Oh, and it was in 78.

Indeed! No idea why I wrote 76.

Incidentally, getting out of the away end at the Dell after the replay is probably the only time I've thought I was going to get crushed to death.

2001, last game of the season against Bournemouth i think. Lino running in front of the East stand, dodgy decision given. Lino standing still taking abuse from the fns, then all of a sudden a pie comes from halfway up the stand and hits him on the head. Brilliant!

Speaking of Beard Days, I can recall my late father in law observing the circus freaks (in particular the strongman - Mr Baker?) taking their seats in the North Stand, the disbelief on his face stays with me.

Dorset-Knob Rufus is a dog's name, who says fans can't affect a player, they took him off he played so poorly!

I can recall Steve Moran (then at Hull) leaving the field of play in tears after getting a volley of abuse from the Southbank regarding alledged acts of anal infidelity involving his wife and former team mate Billy Whitehurst.

The JCB - and all the other inflatables, but especially the JCB - away at Blackburn.

Pant-wettingly and side-achingly funny.

Yeah. a true clolassic. I'll have to root around in my loft to credit the EP photographer who deserves the plaudits.

Happy Days. The day's when, if you missed the results, there was always the Sports Post to jib, TMD stylee, on the way to the pub.

Now that was a great day out. I remember walking into the stand from the concourse and getting smacked straight in the face with an inflatable.

The JCB has to be the best inflatable seen at an RFC end of season away game... Where is the JCB now?
