We were poor and the midfield disappeared. QPR looked much more confident on the ball and far more likely to score but we won a game we didn't deserve to so perhaps thats just our present run of luck. I was alarmed by the hoofball tactics - what is going on there?

Mills got a lot of gyp for his brainless mong passes but in the tackle he was Ok. He got upset for the abuse he got but if you do the same shite thing eight times in a row you must ask yourself does he understand the game at all. Still it can't have helped having a vacuum in midfield and a game plan of boot it up the pitch and hope.

Churchy blocked a certain goal by Jobi (who played well in patches but went invisible as the game turned ugly).

I enjoyed it tbf but more in a despairing ironic way (happily cushioned by the final result). Cannot understand why people leave 20 mins before the end - appreciate the experiences!!

There's another take. Plenty of purists may moan about Reading's performance last night. What I loved to see was a Reading team with a backbone, a spine.

Loftus Road's finest set about us with a form of aggressive crudity that we would have folded in the face of not so long ago.

We actually had to 'work' last night and could not impose through simple skill or playmaking. No surprise to see Colin W*anker's touch in QPR's approach. But they made us dig deep.

I thought Mills' treatment appalling, just as the side is gelling for the first time for many months and the combination of players - not the most talented bunch in the world but giving their all - some 'fans' decided it might be a good idea to do that on a night when a belligerent visiting side were up for 'spoiling'.

I was in West London for the 1-4 capitulation in October and it was truly, utterly pathetic and so seeing Reading FC last night was something to be proud of. After a huge tranche of games back-to-back some of the players' performance dipped a little under some pressure. But this side under McDermott are worth the admission money now and the way we got at them towards the end was an example of mental strength and durability that Rogers' sides never displayed. Nor, blasphemous as it may sound, some of Coppell's.

Gritty, shitty, and not very pretty.

But the three points came our way.

I thought the two bookings were spot on, the first when he booted Long in the face when behind him and didn't get the ball, the second for a blatant attempt to stop Fed taking a quick kick (whether he made contact or not). A rightful card for an attempt at cheating.

OK so Reading Player has finally got the highlights on, and what's all this about a dodgy penalty decision?? Ref had absolutely no option whatsoever, was absolutely stonewall. Just a stupid challenge sticking his leg out after he'd already been well beaten.

As for the red card, the highlights didn't seem to catch the second yellow so can't comment (and I was up the other end of the pitch during the game so still haven't really seen it at all) but you can understand the first - even if it's a tad harsh.

just got back home after leaving the mad stad at 10ish last night.

Well, what to say. ref was dreadful, uy got sent off for two soft yellow cards, the ref only booked him the first time becasue of the reaction of the crowd.

We were lucky to still be level when they went to 10 men.

Yet again we struggled to break down 10 men an resorted to lumping the ball up the park, continually goiving possesion away.

While he may be a good defender, yet again Mills' distribution was awful. This poor distribution can be traced all the way back to the away game at Swansea. Back then the excuse was he wasn't fit. Now I guess Kebe just isn;t tall enough.

The crowd, beginning to sense his short comings let him know and he didnot like to be told!!

Against 10 players, get the ball down onto the deck and pass and move at a high tempo. Stretch them defensively to the point where gaps appear. Draw more fouls with the possibility that more cautions will follow. Simple really. Watching the aimless hoofing last night was horrible. Since when was Kebe prolific in the air?

Go direct when there is no other option.

And I was not the only one to leave so early either. There was one from Glastonbury left the East or North Stand the same time as me. And, quite frankly, I don't give a toss for what anyone else thinks. First time since Palace stuffed us 3-0 that I have left a game before the end.

On this occasion. Just. But I think we would have won by more if we had chosen to play football against 10 men second half rather than long ball. And would have avoided this whole Matt Mills saga. Hopefully Brian McD sees that too and for all the talk about grinding out a tough result will take us back to the successful attacking style we've seen under him to date.
