What you say might have been the case before we were treated to 'Education, Education. Education'. Sadly, however, over the past decade editorial and journalistic standards have plunged dramatically. Have you not read some of the crap that the Reading Post allow Jonny 'wot is gramar and speling?' Fordham publish?!!

So a pretty plausible piece of work and a great wind up!

Well of course that would be more convincing if in fact it had genuinely been from a newspaper. There were other examples in the piece that, while not great grammar, were the sort of usage that you would expect in a newspaper article and which I therefore ignored.
