Dirk Gently But the important thing is that it's now entirely down to us, for the fist time since we started thinking about the play-offs.

9 points behind Leicester with 3 games in hand, and yes, with an inferior goal-difference - but the key thing is that we're now not depending on anyone else.

Well - we are depending on the Foxes' remaining games resulting in a GD at least 7 goals inferior to what we achieve in our remaining games. (We have scored more goals so would go ahead of them in the event of a tied GD). So it is not entirely in our hands!

So match their results and win the three in hand 2-0, 3-0 & 3-0.

I can't see it, I think we'll splutter just short. But my word it's likely to be quite close.

76 points is now the max possible haul of whoever ends up finishing in sixth

And that's a number that cannot rise

Well it's nice to have 4 teams in the play off positions currently who are intent on blowing it one way or another

Forest - absolute cr*p away from home
Cardiff - Finding a bit of form but have financial issues that could screw their season
Swansea - Paul Brayson in disguise
Leicester - Going down quicker than a lady of the night on a helter skelter

It's such a shame that our home form has really screwed this season and that these 4 managed to build up such a gap in the first place.

No Cardiff to win I would've thought 1-1 as it stands, hope Cardiff score a few past them, their goal difference is not that much higher than ours.

Chopra scores a last minute winner, Cardiff beat Swansea 2-1. So basically Leicester and Swansea lost as well as us so all is not over, just another game gone.

And now we have to worry about Blackpool too.

From what i saw today if Matts red card sticks you can say goodbye to the playoffs. Pearce is just not good enough for this level and with Ingi out for the season we will be f***ed if Matt has a 4 game ban.

It's still very much alive, other than Blackpool we have the best chance of reaching the play offs of those teams currently not in the top six. Who would have thought it, with a month to go we have a better chance than Sheff Utd of finishing in the Play offs ? If we give up the players will give up, continue to believe. It's still very possible especially with the form of the Swans and Foxes. Come on !

I'd just like to say that some of us have always been expecting mid-table. We've flirted with relegation, we've flirted with the play-offs. Truth is, where we are now, is where we deserve to finish. And it'll be a perfectly acceptable finish and a good platform for next season.

There's a good chance Leicester will fail to reach 70 points and their GD is continuing to fall

Swansea look to have a fair chance of 71 points, possibly more but they are definitely wobbling. A bad result in next game and they could crash out of contention

Unfortunately, if we've lost Mills, can't see us doing much at Cardiff unless they have an off day! We will need to win 5 from 7 (67 points, small positive GD)
and get at least two points from Cardiff and Newcastle and hope Blackpool stutter. How likely is that now?

Leicester

Home QPR (Draw?)
Away P'boro (Draw?)
Home Watford WIN
Away Preston LOSE
Home M'boro Draw

Swansea

Home Scunthorpe Win? But Scunny showing better form of late
Away Bristol City DRAW? Could lose this one
Home Barnsley Win?
Away Sheff Utd DRAW?
Home Doncaster Draw?

Surely this thread can be closed now?

Being extremely generous we are going to need minimum 67 pts to get 6th & even that is highly unlikely seeing as Swansea, Leicester & Pool all have more than 60 pts already.

That would require 5 wins from 7 & we have Newcastle to play & Cardiff away.

Not going to happen!!

We needed to remain pretty much unbeaten for the rest of the season to catch them.

Mid table finish is fantastic though so well done Brian.

Greed. Although I vote for it to be closed if we don't beat Coventry.

Seeing as you've contradicted yourself in the two sentences in bold, I fail to see why it should be closed.

I agree that it is highly unlikely that we will make the playoffs, but as it is still mathematically possible, why piss on a thread of optimism when 3 months ago anyone discussing the playoffs would have been dragged off by the men in white coats.
