Ian Royal Complaining about "basic human rights" for such pathetic things are the domain of truely ignorant and idiotic people.

royalexile What was he kicked out for Troli. I missed that, other that seeing Handbags get removed just before HT.

Bit of a grey one to be honest. I actually walked out to prevent myself from being ejected and/or arrested. Stewards followed me (they really couldn't wait to assert their authority on all and sundry could they?), rozzers also. Rozzers took charge, took details outside the stadium, and let me on my way. Stewards outside (a particularly smug looking c*nt) informed the rozzers that it was an ejection, to which I objected and said I was walking anyway to prevent such an occurance. He said I would have been ejected at half time anyway, so I responded that it wasn't half time yet. Either way, I went back to the stadium towards the end of the game, after a period of reflection, to get the details of the officer in charge of the away end. I unfortunately didn't get the number and name of the steward who said that I was ejected. Anyway, I asked a couple of police officers when I went back whether I'd been ejected and they said no, three people walked (me, my brother, and floyd__streete). Whatever happens, I will never go back to Portman Road again because it's the same old problems every year there - stewards absolute twats who can't wait to get onto you. I fail to see why they needed a row of 12 stewards and 8 policemen at the edge of a set of fans who are probably in the top five best behaved away fans in the league for a start. Those stewards also clearly haven't a clue that maybe, just maybe, events on the pitch may annoy even the most mild mnnered of fan (of which I claim NOT to be). I really do wonder what they would be like with a crowd of 2000 Millwall, Leeds, Stoke, Cardiff fans - I fear Reading fans have been the victims of being seen as a soft touch again :|

Anyway, the game - even-Stevens until the red card. Bizarre yellow card for diving for what looked a clear penalty to me. Then the sending off, quite ludicrous in all fairness. I was annoyed that a foul had been given in the first place, and then the red card came out. Livid, utterly livid. Then two very soft goals IMO, a free header and then an outnumbering at the back post. Then the Sig booking, which was the straw which broke the camel's back, not because I didn't feel it was a booking (it was) but because a clear and similar attack-preventing foul on Brian Howard hadn't been punished with the same disciplinary action. I can't comment for the second half, because I wasn't there, and I don't care that I wasn't to be honest.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience at PR wasn't great. TBH our stewards have a reputation as being one of the fairer sets in all four pro leagues. Our 'problem' games, e.g versus Norwich, are usually handled well. We've had our share of problems (when we relegated Millwall about twelve years ago and some of their supporters set about ripping up seats) but these are normally isolated incidences which occur infrequently.

I'd be just as peed off if I'd paid £31 at your place, then got ejected before half-time. We'll have to have a whip-round for you next season!

Well, in all fairness (and there's not much here I tell thee), it's only really Portman Road I've had consistent perennial problems. Last season the rozzers had words during the second half, and previously I've had problems dating to the game when you dicked us 5-2 in August '96 (I was 14 back then :| ). Only other place I've had words spoken to more than once is Crewe (the second which I take sole responsibility for and have absolutely no complaints about). Unfotunately I have a pretty big gob on me so I get heard above most others, and Saturday I was in prime position being sat pretty near the stewards. But please, why such a high police presence? Does Reading have a reputation that preceeds them? These days at Reading, games have absolutely no police presence if they are "category C" fixtures. If it was Millwall I could understand it, but Reading? :|

TBF, Handbags, wherever you were stood on Saturday would have been pretty near the stewards - at least 2 or 3 at the top of the middle staircases with shedloads on either side of our allocation.

To add to your account, I'll chuck in the ejection of the teenage lad behind me - took 5 stewards to eject him and not one of them could give him (or others round him) a decent reason for his ejection.

Obviously Reading's reputation for troublesome away support precedes them :?

It was ten pound for the Silver scheme at Ipswich for the Reading game.

A warning should suffice - and then if people continue to break the rules then ejection should follow.

Most expensive away tickets in the division, highest police presence allied with most pathetic policing and stewarding I have seen all season, even eclipsing the power-trip muppets at Forest and WBA. I shan't be visiting Ipswich Town again, f*ck them. In fact, f*ck modern football where you pay more than thirty quid to watch division 2 football in abject silence and you'd better sit down else you'll be ejected.
