I looked at the table 2 weeks ago and said that 70 points may claim the last playoff place this year. with the other teams only having 4 games left. we need a slight slip up from some of them with us winning all of our games with room maybe for one slip up. personally i think its a bridge to far and considering where we were post Rodgers.

From John Ashdown's column in today's Guardian website:

Last year the Royals crawled into the play-offs like half-squashed roadkill and were quickly put out of their misery by Burnley. This year I've a feeling they'll thrust themselves into the top six in tip top form. Victories in their two games in hand would see Brian McDermott's side just three points behind Leicester and within striking distance of out-of-form Swansea. Their fixture list, after a crunch game this weekend, looks kind.

I see he ignores the fact that after our crunch game we have to play the best team in the league !

Other than that the remaining games do look the sort we ought to be winning....

It also ignored the fact that had we beaten Birmingham on the last day of the season, it would have been the Premier League we would have crawled into like a half-squashed roadkill, rather than the play-offs.

To put it simply if we win all 6 we are about 95% (almost certain) to be in the top 6.

5 wins and a draw and we have about a 40/50% chance and anything less than that is about 10% or less.

The chances of winning all 6 are slim but until it is mathematically certain that we cannot do it - we may as well have fun speculating.

Speculation - on an Internet football forum, are you mad?

From my very optimistic predictions (including beating Newcastle) I had us finish with 71pts in 6th place, but I did predict Swansea would draw all of their last games, which just isn't going to happen.....ah well.......

Sensible post, let's just take them one game at a time and all that.

I sat having a drink before the game on Monday, proclaiming to my friends around me that following the Ipswich game that was it.

We might as well enjoy the end of the season and look forward to next season.

They looked at me as if I were a fool and all said "we've 2 games in hand"

After watching the 1st half I feel they have a point.

I've my ticket to Cardiff

and I'm loving all this speculation..

Come on uR's

Having lost Matt Mills for the next 4 games means the party is over in my opinion

Was talking to some people ITK from Cardiff yesterday - a Malaysian businessman is about to pump £^M into them to keep them going til the end of the season, so anyone counting on a 10 point deductions for them can forget that.

Malaysians have supposedlybeen going to put money into Cardiff for the best part of a year now. It's like Billy Bunter's postal order or Mr Micawber expecting something will turn up, with Peter Ridsdale playing those parts.

Believe whatever you like, then, see if I care. But this guy has spoken to the Malaysian concerned and I have no reason to doubt him.

Tomorrow is going to be a perfect day for us. Peterborough will upset leicester. We will beat Cardiff.
Bristol City will slay the Swans. Blackpool will fall to the barcodes. And Boro will draw with Wednesday. Hob Nob will go down with the influx of posters.

All of this will happen tomorrow. You have been forewarned.

Sadly I believe our chance has gone with the loss of Mills for 4 games. Although I would love to be proved wrong.
