Fed for Italy

by Basingstoke Royal » 10 Apr 2010 18:03

Not sure if this has already been posted but Federici has received a letter from Italy about possibly playing for them instead of Australia. Turning his back on oz would be a bit harsh, but who does he have more chance starting for....

He'd be mad to opt for Italy wouldn;t he ? Unless he pretty much got a guarantee of games. He's already had call ups for Oz and I can't see Italy being so short of keepers that they trawl the English second tier !

Not UR&G as he talks about it you fools!

ITALIAN JOB? ... Adam Federici

Federici in shock Italy call
ADAM FEDERICI claims he has received a shock approach from World Cup holders Italy.
Reading's keeper, 25, says the Italian FA have written to him to see if he would consider quitting Australia to play for them.

Federici starred at the 2008 Olympics for the Socceroos but has an Italian passport and FIFA rules will allow him to swap.

He said: "I am stunned. Playing for Italy never crossed my mind.

"But to be contacted by the world champions in the run up to the World Cup is pretty incredible."

Federici has also played at Under-20 and Under-23 level for the Aussies and was born Down Under to Italian parents.

But he has not played in an A-grade tournament, which means he is able to switch countries.

Federici is back-up to Oz No 1 Mark Schwarzer and is now at an international crossroads.

If he plays one game for the Aussies at the World Cup he would be committed to them for good.

I will eat my hat if Federici gets called up for Italy, compared to someone like Buffon he's miles apart!

I am not going on a section of the forum where you believe a player made up by floyd called Wai Me is coming to the club and you idiots believe it! Talking of idiots it's not UR&G because it's true as Federici spoke about it.

I despair at some of you on here, but then again i do think 90% of Reading fans are idiots!

to say only 90% of Reading fans are idiots is rather generous...being generally an observer of HNA, refraining from becoming involed in the usual dross that fills the team board especially, I have lost count of the times I have had to rub my eyes with sheer disbelief.

Back to topic - Sorry Fedders, playing for Italy is never gunna happen, stick to Oz.
