09/10 Team vs 05/06 Team

by blue_army1871 » 10 Apr 2010 20:54

Hahnemann vs Federici - Feds shades it for me, just because of his distribution. Both very similar in terms of shotstopping

Shorey vs Bertrand - Shorey because of his set pieces. But Bertrand has plenty of potential

Sonko vs Mills - Sonko in the 05/06, and start if 06/07. But Mills at any other time

Ingimarsson vs Khizanishvilli - These days Khiz. But 06 Ingi > 10 Khiz

Murty vs Griffin - Murts hands down. Fantastic captain

Little vs Kebe - Hate to say it but Kebe on his day > Little on his day. But very close

Harper vs Howard - I'd take Howard as he gets stuck in more. But again very close

Sidwell vs Sigurdsson - I'd rather keep Sig than bring back 06 Sidwell

Convey vs McAnuff - Can't separate these two

Doyle vs Church - Doyle. Far more consistent. But Church has potential

Kitson vs Rasiak/Long - Kitson hands down

think convey 05/06 beats mcanuff hands down
not having kebe over little yet. but give him time. in that season little was one of the best players ive ever seen, if kebe stays and takes us up, ill let him overtake glenda

same for sig/sidwell, but it s getting closer every week - two very different palyesr with different strengths though

Shouldn't that be other way around? Convey was awful but for one season, the 106 season. McAnuff is twice the winger Convey is/was.

no, as we are comparing convey from 05/06 who was awesome.pacy, tricksy, scored goals and set up a million.
this season mcanuff has achieved little in comparison.

tbf mcanuff is closer to convey in every other season apart from 05/06 than he is the 05/06 vintage

05/06 versions not current ones obviously
Hahnemann vs Federici - easily

Shorey vs Bertrand - far better defensively, produced more end product in attack

Sonko vs Mills - He was Superman FFS

Ingimarsson vs Khizanishvili - Mr reliable

Murty vs Griffin - fairly even, Murty quicker, Griffin more intelligence

Little vs Kebe - Kebe has the pace, they both have the skill Little has the brain. Brain >> Pace

Harper vs Howard - fairly even, Harps more athletic and better at keeping the ball, Howard better tackler and at driving forward.

Sidwell vs Sigurdsson - Sig has the potential to be better, but I'd still take Sidwell for now.

Convey vs McAnuff - Convey scored more, I think McAnuff has more about him, but Convey was on fire that season.

Doyle vs Church - Church has potential, but I doubt he'll ever reach Doyle's level.

Kitson vs Rasiak/Long - Well this one is a piece of piss. Striker who regularly scored at an excellent rate for us and was top scorer in every season he played a big role. vs two quite average strikers.

In terms of points, the best team the division has ever seen, and certainly the best team we've ever had, compared to an improving mid-table outfit.

Hmmm.

I'll get back to you.

As good as Kebe has been recently, Little was a different class. Top assister in the league by a mile, and he missed a couple of months through injury. Used to give the full backs a roasting for 70 mins a game (and then came on Oster!).

Hahnemann > Federici

Shorey = Bertrand - I reckon Bertrand will be the better player in time.

Ingimarsson < Kishvinashivilli

Sonko > Mills FOR THAT SEASON, rather have mills overall

Murty > Griffin

Convey = McAnuff - same level

Sidwell > Howard

Harper < Tabb

Little > Kebe

Kitson = Sigurdsson

Doyle > Church

I don't even want to reply but as much as i love watching Reading in 2010, nothing will ever compare to 2005/06,

Shorey= best left back we've ever had.

Sidwell/Harper=better midfield then we've ever had, oxf*rd all of you who thinks Howard is better than Harper, totally different players.

Little/Convey=better than McAnuff and Kebe, as much as Kebe has been good since New Year he is nothing compared with Little. Convey was brilliant that year and the first few weeks of the Prem until he did his knee in.

Kits, Doyler, Lita>>Long, Church, Raz.

How on earth is Royal** even comparing Siggs and Kitson??? Siggs is completely different than anything we had that year.

Totally agree, Convey was far and away the weakest link in that side. Two good games Millwall at home and Sheff Utd away. Lol at those RTG's who had and still have Convey as their love child, unbelievable. Couldn't see it at the time and can't see it now. Poor player in an exceptional team, he was a passanger !

convey was awesome that season. mcanuff has had flashes , but doesnt produce enough for me.
cant remember what the goal/assist stats were like for convey, but id say hes well ahead from memory.
in fact id say you couldnt be more wrong

Mcanuff does produce enough as he has the most assists for us this season with 9. Convey got 10 in 05/06. So they are very similar in terms of assists and i wuld say general all round play aswell. However, convey scored more so i would just give him the edge.

Overall I would say Mcanuff is a better player though as he has been consistent at this level for many many years. Convey only managed one great season.

This team are only just starting out you can't compare them to the best side Reading and The Championship has ever seen.

There may well be individuals in the current squad who are better players than the 05/06 team but as most of those players have proved since they left, that team was great because collectively they were special not individually.
