Final Five Fixtures Predictions

by NR_Royal » 12 Apr 2010 12:37

Newcastle (H) 1-1
Peterborough (H) 3-1
Scunthorpe (A) 0-1
Watford (A) 1-2
Preston (H) 1-0

These are my optimistic predictions which would leave us on 69 points with a GD of +5. This would mean that Swansea would have to get less than 5 points from their last 3 games which is more than possible as they have to play Barnsley, Sheff U and Doncaster who are all half decent sides. I can honestly see them failing to make 70 points come the end of the season.

Blackpool would HAVE to get less than 6 points from their final 3 games (because their GD is much better on +13), which again is possible but they have to play Forest (who are not great away from home), Peterborough (easily winnable) and Bristol City (inconsistent). If any team is to stop our play off push, it would be Blackpool in my eyes.

I think we will miss out this season, but BRING ON NEXT SEASON! :D

For me it all hangs on the Newcastle game

Win that and it could easily be WWWWW, play-offs and Wembley

But fail to win and we'll see fringe players etc

Scunthorpe and Watford away could be tough. Teams in their position are expected to fight for their lives at this stage of the season, although our final few matches in 07/08 could suggest otherwise.....

Both could be safe or near as damn it by the time we play them though.

Cardiff 79
Leicester 74
Swansea 72
Blackpool 70
Reading 68
Boro 66

So based on your predictor a win at newcastle and the 4 remaining fixtures sees us make the playoffs

Nope, even a win at Newcastle would leave Reading 1 point off the play offs if the other results work out.

I think Watford will be our toughest game. They'll hoof it over us a lot and the pitch there is approaching Blackpool's standards. Won't be easy.
