The only other club I know who do that are Reading, both to mask the failures of their boards.

Has to be against safety restrictions also. What if there was a fire and the club are quoting 27k when there is actually 15k there? What do the fire brigade do when evacuating and trying to save people? There would be no way to measure the dead also if they are told twice the number. Clubs should be announcing how many people are in the ground, not how many tickets they sold. Pathetic.

All English Premier League clubs do it as it is in the league rules, Reading brought it in accordingly and haven't switched back - may even be more widespread than that for all I know. It's tickets sold rather than attendance.

Clubs will have a number of the total coming through the turnstiles so would not have any issue with reference to safety restrictions or potential incident.

It's only today that I've noticed that the SPL has a post-split thingy going on. ie. each team plays each other 3 times and then the league splits up into 2 halves and they play the games amongst themselves in this new mini-league. I get the impression from the SPL website FAQ that this was to ensure that each team only plays 38 league games.

How long has this been going on for? Bit of a funny system to implement, tbf. It seems that some clubs are not happy with the remaining fixtures.

LOL @ Scottish football fans. Such little else in their lives that they take the Old Firm more serious than pretty much everything else.

Very, very YAWNsome.

Its a retarded system tbf. They also have a rule which states you can't play three consecutive home or away games, but because the police don't want the old firm to be a title decider Rangers are being forced to play three consecutive away games. Its just farcical really.

Its to stop each team having to play the other teams four times each and you are right in saying that would be too many games.

When did they implement this system?

2001 - coming under increasing pressure as Motherwell are unhappy at having to make a 3rd trip to Celtic meaning they only have 18 home games this year and only 1 against Celtic.

Split means that the team in 7th can finish with more points than the team in 6th which is rather strange.

Not sure what else they can do bar increasing the division to say 18 clubs and have a 34 game season.

LOLz, you're a bit weird aren't you? Still I suppose it makes a change from blaming something on the rubbishness of English football. I'm sure they do it better in germany eh?

How does that make me weird? Trying to play a psychologist on a football message forum makes you the weirdo dude. Get a life. :D

German football > English football. Common knowledge.

I would make the scottish top division much bigger, 18 clubs playing each other twice a season...even the players are sick of playing the same teams over and over again and standards are dropping in the top division so the second tier aren't a million miles behind anymore

Making the SPL 18 teams though would have a consequence on the rest of the Scottish League aswell.
It would leave 24 teams, I think 2 x 12 team divisions is what they would end up doing, which of course would again lead to a divisional split after 33 games. Maybe what could be down to combat the need for the split is to reignite the League Challenge Cup in the early part of the season, and maybe, 6 groups x 4 teams who play each other home and away in a league basis, which 6 x group winners and 2 best runners ups then going in a knock-out. Shouldnt really have an impact on any extra fixtures than these clubs are used to.

Alternatively a one x 24 team league, play each other home and away - so 46 games. think this is to much for teams though, as have to take into consideration the vast land Scotland is and the players basically being part-time. And the weather being shocking during the winter, leads to many postponemnets meaning teams spend the spring catching up fixture, this idea would mean scrapping the League Challenge Cup of course.

2*12 could mean they play each other 4 times and have a 44 game season too.
