2 great goals from CMS. Maybe the club should also look out for Aaron McLean? Handed in a transfer request and has a great partnership with CMS and George Boyd.

let's take the 2 strikers from the worst team in the division...... and we've moaned at the mad man for lack of ambition!

FiNeRaIn Difficult to judge anyone in that p'boro team, they are god awful. He looked frustrated and did chase the ball a bit, but that said at no time did his first touch or movement really threaten. As said though playing with confidence in a good side and he could be completely different.

Personally I thought he was the best outfield player for them but seeing as he had no competition - let alone service - you wouldn't want to make your mind upon that one game.

To be honest the likes of SHunt were never star men in great teams :/

Was Kebe was a star man at Boulogne? Was Kevin Doyle and Long was star men at Cork? If McDermott sees potential in CMS, I say take him! Making the cut from the Confrence to League 2 then to League 1 and finally to the Championship is a big ask. Scoring 51 goals in 137 games? Not a bad goal scoring ratio for a striker. Besides, isn't he free at the end of the season?

This is funny. I posted that Rodgers wanted him last summer, but the mods deleted the thread.

I heard it was RL that removed it. She didn't state why either...

Royal_Delight Was Kevin Doyle and Long was star men at Cork?

Yes, Kevin Doyle was Cork citys star player. But the rest of them I see your point.

Long was claimed to be a star in the making who would be better than Doyle by some iirc

Quite possibly but doyle had scored 25 goals in 75 appearances and shane long only made 1 appearance for Cork city, so I'd say Doyle was the star of the Cork city team when we bought him and Long had potential.

I don't remember anyone saying that. Doyle was the star in the making and Long caught the eye and we took a punt on him. Great value too, even if he hasn't become much more than an average Championship striker.

Doyle actually said this about Long. He said it after Long had scored a hattrick against Arsenal reserves....I hope he doesnt decide to be a scout when he retires

Cork fans were saying they didn't mind too much if we took Doyle because they had a star in the making in Long, who would probably be better. Not impressed when we nabbed both for essentially the same price.

I remember saying that, a few years ago.

But, unlike many on HNA?, I'm perfectly willing to admit I was wrong.

The potential I thought he had was never realised, sadly - maybe because he spent too long not playing at a crucial time in his career, when SC refused to send him out on loan.
