Confirmed tomorrow. Agree with the above, love him to pieces, but can't stand them. A mediocre reign will suffice.

FiNeRaIn I'm not remotely worried by city taking any of our players.

Neither am I.

As someone suggested, he'll have to go round the country to get his old team back together. With the exception of Ivar all we have left here are the players who struggled to get a look in unless one of his undroppables was bed ridden.

Tabb is a prime example of a player he bought as cover and it took Coppell's departure for him to get a fair chance......................so there's more chance of hell freezing over than him going west.

On the other hand, Ivar and Harps room sharing for a few months must be a distinct possibility.

I wish SC no ill but remain delighted I no longer have to watch him and his favourites driving us into the dirt.

FiNeRaIn but after starting to win over the Reading crowd
He won me over in his first couple of games. Would like to know what part of the Reading crowd you're referring to? Don't remember him at any point having a poor game for us...

I didn't say anything about poor games, just a distinct lack of them and when he did play he was pretty average. Over the last few months he's looked class, hard working, good passer, etc and he's vast becoming a crowd favourite more than just a squad nobody. That's where I was coming from.

They must have some serious dosh, as he don't come cheap. Interesting to see how much money he spends in the summer.

Played out of position at right back most of the time when you are probably referring to him appearing average.

Playng inhis favoured position he has looked class and it is now very apparent why he was Cov's player of the season and their fans were gutted to see him go.

Muskrat I was surprised and a bit disappointed when I heard that Coppell was going to Bristol City but when I thought about it, it's probably their averageness that attracted him there. Apart from their fans with their over inflated sense of self importance, they'll probably be content to let him develop the squad over a couple of years like he did with us, with not huge funds to work with and I think he'll like that.

Fans will naturally see him as an instant panacea but that is a common trait amongst all fans.

Look at us before our 106 season - decent Championship club finishing 7th on 70 points and the previous seaon 9th on 70 points, Bit like Brizzle now...

A bit like us NOW then?
Looking from the outside it would make sense for there to be just the one club in Bristol as it is a city plenty big enough to support one Premiership club with say 40,000 support.
As it is the divide will probably mean that they will continue to have 2 clubs playing at lower levels.
One day the world of English professional football will wake up to the nonsense of having 92 league clubs plus about a further 6 or 7 professional Conference teams.
Yours sincerely
Robert Maxwell

In that we finished 3rd last season (not 7th) and we're also 3rd based on the second half of this season ?

Which kind of makes us a failry decent promotion side who had a very poor half a season before Xmas ?

While City are a failry consistent 'just outside the playoffs' sort of side..

Good luck to Coppell but LOL at City fans who think he'll be an instant hit, or that they'll suddenly sign big name players.

That's a pretty good spin ST at this time of political debate being to the fore.
Perhaps we should have half-seasons rather than full ones to establish promotion and relegation?
On the first part of this season we would have been relegated and for the second we would have been promoted.
Would we have to select one or the other before the season starts?

handbags_harris They're welcome to Cisse and Matejovsky as their new central midfield partnership...

I'm not sure, I reckon that could have potential in the Championship. They would just need to learn how to keep the ball for more than 5 passes.

It's not spin.

We've been a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team for ages.

And you need to check your understanding of promotion and relegation as third place isn't a promotion place.

I see you've forgotten your point that we're a bit like Bristol City. Because we're not really.
