Back From The Game - Watford; Thoroughly Deflated

by RoyalBlue » 24 Apr 2010 17:22

Having witnessed that absolute shower of shyte, I can safely say that on the basis of today's performance, management and players are no better than a bunch of work-shy benefit cheats!

There was absolutely nothing professional about them today. I bet most of the travelling support wished that they had left the moment the only entertainment finished i.e. just before kickoff when the inflatable fun subsided!

Support was really good considering I don't think we had one shot on target all game (hitting the outside of the post when 1 on 1 with the keeper is not a shot on target!). Absolutely no pride or passion today from the players perhaps with the exception of The Sig. And on the basis of today's display, Griffin has clearly decided he is not staying!

I can only apologise to Sheff Weds and Crystal Palace supporters for the way our team gifted Watford their Championship survival today. The Watford players barely had to break into a sweat for it.

And yes, the ref was absolutely shyte but he could have given us three goals and we still would have found a way to throw the game away!

Really surprised about this considering McDermott's comments following the way we threw away a two goal lead at Scunthorpe in midweek.

It is quite unbelievable isn't it! If I were McDermott, I'd make the point that their failure to respond is completely unacceptable by playing a completely different set of players against Preston.

Dire... Griffin showed how truely sht he is. Hope he fcuks off back to stoke. Shane was the only player who i felt put any effort in.. Yet the rest of the pub team we call Reading offered him no support so shane was made to look useless with his flick on's.

And to top it all off some pcunt stole my palm tree..

Only one set of players wanted it today - we were second best to everything, weak in the challenge and just didn't look bothered.

Really disappointing display all round.

To 'Sue' who rang BBCRB to say we shouldn't have a go at the players - I bet you weren't at the game were you?!

'Players tired' ??? My arse! To find out what 'tired' is, they should get a proper job rather than being paid a fortune to do something they love. If they were too tired to play, they should have told their manager and asked not to be selected.

Do you not think the Watford players might have been even more tired?

As my daughter would no doubt say 'Sue', with comments like that, you give female football supporters a bad name! And don't even mention 'June' who put it all down to Feds wearing the red kit!!

Referring to where we were earlier in the season does not excuse that disgraceful performance today. They cheated their own fans and they cheated the fans of Sheff Weds and Crystal Palace.

Well that was up there with the Plymouth game as possibly the worst performance of the season, and we managed to score @ Plymouth! I'm disappointed that the players just didn't seem like they could be arsed and seemedto have one eye on their holidays. All of Watfords goals could have been avoided, Feds failing to command his box for the first, Long with a dreadful pass straight to their player inside our box for the second, and Griffin, well don't get me started.
I thought Howard was our best player today constantly running and trying to get on the ball, Mills was rubbish, Pearce would have been better. McDermott got his tactics wrong today, should have played 4-4-2 from the start, and what was he doing Rasiak on before Church?
An aside was the woeful performance if the ref, blatant penalty missed, niggly decisions being given to Watford and then the icing on the cake was him booking Zurab for catching a Watford player by accident after he'd (Zurab) clearly headed the ball fairly. Despite this if we'd cared we could have responded to going 1-0 down!
Thoroughly pissed off.

The only thing gayer than our performance is the watford fans, and our fans moaning. They wanted it more, the ref helped and our players were on the beach already.oh well.spotted-compo and pink compo,af1, troli, big foot, rex,ben reading and the legend that is spacey.

Get a grip you suicidal lot. Watford had everything to play for in front of their home fans - we had nothing to play for.

Only ever going to be one winner today. We have a shite record there anyway.

This team has done phenomenally well since BM took over. They can't play brilliant every week & perhaps adrenaline has been keeping them going thus far. Now they have nothing to play for, it's inevitable they will take their foot off the gas. So fecking what?!

LOL at slagging off Griffin. Some people on here crack me up.

What the hell happened today? I loaded up BBC Sport during my work break to see the scores at 5.00pm, and seeing us lose 3-0 has really dented my expectations for next season. Please let this be a one off.

So that effing excuses them ripping their fans off by not bothering to turn up does it?! The clue is meant to be in the term Professional footballer!

Fortunately McDermott doesn't appear as ready to excuse them as you do.

No shots on target and not even a sodding corner won!

Every single one of them should have the decency to donate a day's pay to charity for today's dismal display.

No it doesn't excuse them but given what they've achieved since Jan quite frankly my dear I don't give a damn. It's an end of season nothing game - their psyche has completely changed now the play-off dream is over so this sort of result is inevitable & shouldn't be that surprising IMO!

Well, definitely not our greatest performance of the season, but still enjoyed the day out.

Well I hope you don't manage anyone in a job! Just because they have achieved something (which they were being very well paid to do anyway) they can be excused still claiming their extremely high wages and just going through the motions!

0-7 You see the effort is only there when they are playing for something..human nature! JM has already ' sold' Siggy he just doesnt know it yet.

So the players were playing for free today were they? That perhaps explains it! Forget playing for their supporters, their club, professional pride, competitive nature etc!

As they felt they had nothing to play for, they clearly aren't out and out winners, which explains why we aren't in the playoffs. We need a team of players who will even want to beat a group of 5 year old kids in a friendly kick around. They should absolutely hate losing.

We should go out every game wanting to win regardless of whether there is anything to play for or not. Today we didn't seem to want to win. I'm with RoyalBlue here in that there can be ansolutely no excuses for today's performance!

I actually think I agree with this (apart from there being only one winner)

Yes there wasn't much effort from you guys once we took the lead (sure I saw Nigel Gibbs get a fiver from GT and Mackay after the game..;) )

Very good support with all those inflatables...

I must say you should have had a penalty at 0-0 when Taylor pushed Church (?) down with a rugby style tackle...bare in mind the 2 penalties against us in previous games for nothing!

Anyway see you next season.
