FAO Senior fans / Velocity of season

by Big Foot » 25 Apr 2010 10:32

This is my 8th season as a STH (plastic from the age of 12, guilty) - seems that with every season that passes they come and go much much quicker.

My question is , do they ever slow down at all? I know it was like a slow, painful funeral march for most of pre-Xmas but this season has been and gone quicker than Stephen Hunt's commitment

Thoughts please...

As someone who will be 46 next week I guess I'm old enough to respond.
TBH I've found this season to be quite long although it doesn't seem like 9 months since Alex Pearce's header flew into the back of our net against Chelsea in the last minute.
So its not conclusive for me. It also depends on other things like work, kids etc...in some ways I can't believe my older boy starts secondary school in September...its flown by...yet it seems so long ago since I was young, free and single. :|

12 months ago I would have said no the older you get the quicker the season passes. However this last season seems to have been the longest I have ever known in the 41 years I have been supporting the R's. Certainly some of the games this season have seemed much longer than when I first watched Dennis Allen & Co.

Seems like barely yesterday that Kebe put the ball in the Chelsea net! Forest game a week later seems a lifetime away though

For me it's gone quite quickly. The two years in the premiership went too quickly. :(

because time is relative, as you get older time shrinks in proportion to the total time youve been alive
at twelve one year is one twelfth of your entire life, so seems like an eternity.
as you get older the years shrink and fly by
this will only get faster and faster as you career towards death.
make the most while you can!

I find that nasal hair becomes an increasing issue as you get older.

and you know the race is nearly run when you have more hair growing out of your ears and nose than on your head!

What reason can you have for being sorry for reminding us of St Trev?

Bloody loved him I did

His 5 minute Hat-trick on his home debut (Against Stockport?),
His perfect Hat-trick against Colchester in the League Cup (which we went out on away goals)
Him going off against Chesterfield, coming back with a huge bandage and completing another Hat-trick.
His unerring ability to fall over with grace (and by doing so score another goal)
His swallow dive that got a Futcher sent off.
His partnership with Deano and/or with Mad Max
His heroics in goal.

For most of all for playing with a smile on his face

Thank You Trev

The more enjoyable a season is the quicker it goes.

This season has dragged.
