Messiah
rg6royal Will be disappointed if Reading don't offer Antonio a new contract.

'greed. A very usefull back up for McAnuff and Kebe. I think the fact we're in talks with Saints means we're haggling a fee and he's off.

From what I have seen I would prefer Antonio as the back-up for our normal two, providing a more physical approach and ahead of both Robson-Kanu and Henry who don't seem to have progressed and could well move on in the summer.

Posible backup at Reading or first team regular at Southampton. I think I know where he will be next season.

Disagree. I've only seen a handful of Southampton games this season when visiting my mate down there and from what he's told me Antonio has been hit and miss all season. Even when he's played well there was nothing that would make you think "I can see why Reading would keep him. " He's quick, strong, has a long throw and will beat most full backs for pace but thats it. Our standards for young players are improving a lot and the players competing with him on the wings all have some sort of technical ability that will take them that step further.
HRK - quick, strong, skillful, great shot on him, unpredictable and if he works on his crossing will be a damn good winger.
Henry - Skillful, dead ball specialist, great crossing ability, good technique and if he keeps his head down will be good competition on the wings.
Obita - young lad coming through, left footed, quick, skillful, can win games single handly, good eye for goal, hard working, good technique and regarded as on of the best young talents in the country. He turned down Arsenal and Man City to sign pro with us!
Then obviously we've got Kebe and McAnuff who are experienced and probably the best wingers in our league. On top of that We have bell-baggie and Bozanic can play there if needed, even though its not there natural positions.

There's just too much competition for him and better players ahead of him. So I think Reading letting him go would be good thing for him to play every week at a level where he can flourish.

Worth checking out his goals if you missed the football league show on saturday night. Nice finishes

Royalwaster Just seen on bbc that Bozanic has 'cut short his loan spell with Aldershot'. Anyone know why? Seems a strange decision, unless we intend to play him vs Preston on last day of season ....

No.

Been on shotsweb. He's left by his own request and they think he had a personality clash with Scott Donnelly and one other player.

Is Bozanic out of contract?

Can't see him getting a new one.

Agree on Antonio, he's no better than what we already have and he won't wanna come here and sit on the bench again. Saints may even pay him more....

Yea runs out in July. I too don't think he'll get his contract renewed. Tbf he's been set back a bit with that illness that kept him out for a season and that has clearly halted his progress. He's too similar to gylfi anyway, only left footed and slightly more comfortable on the wing.

On a side note, is Vasilev still out injured? I know he recovered from a groin problem and then picked up another injury, but haven't heard anything since.

If only we had a 17 year old who was a regular in the match day squad, that'd be some young player worth watching.... let's hope we see that day soon.

Also, that Ipswich youngster - Conor Whickham - wasn't he at Reading's academy at some point?

Or are we?

Pity though. Wonder what kind of player he would turn out to be if he stayed. The next Gylfi? A high possibility.

As I predicted we have not released Antonio - used our option to sign him for another season. The speculation about him can now end for 12 months!

You did not predict that outcome at all. No-one seemed to know we had the clause that allowed us to extend for another season....(at least I can't see anyone who referred to it)

Hurrah. I'm glad we've got Antonio for another season. Check him out in pre season and see how he does then decide if he's either back up or loan him out to southampton again. Simple.

Why wait 12 months.

We have clearly only given him a new deal so we can sell him for more money...
