RFC - Officially cloned

by Tinrib » 16 May 2010 22:45

http://www.oceancityfc.com/home/410285.html

...........Ocean City FC will also adopt the colors of Reading FC, the English Championship side that the team has been affiliated with since 2008. The Royals will also be providing jerseys for the club so that the PDL and all of the Super Y-League teams will wear the same shirts as Reading FC.

“Thanks to the support of Reading FC, we were able to adopt the blue and white colors, in addition to taking the Royals’ logo and making it our own,” said Holloway, a former Reading youth academy player.

The club’s primary logo borrows from the badge used by Reading FC for decades, by inserting an ocean wave and a compass pointing to the northeast in place of Reading’s lion and crown in the original.

The secondary logo is a menacing, yet dynamic, ocean wave that hopes to reflect the power of a nor’easter storm.

Bring 'em over for a friendly.

It'd be nice to see some young players sent over on short term loans, player swaps... They're could be a Kevin Doyle in it one day.

From their website

"To qualify, Nor'easters need to win next 3 & have Carolina & Reading slip up"

It's all very confusing !

There are 8 or 9 Readings in the USA (not to mention a few Reddings)
(I plan to visit them all at some point  )

The biggest one is in Berkshire County in Pennsylvania

I thought I was the only person sad enough to fancy doing that.

Nope - I've thought about it too. A little trip when I retire.

Reading in Pennsylvania also started a Reading music festival a few years ago to mirror our own - don't know if it became an annual event though.

If the badge actually had some history behind it rather than having just been made up by some brand & marketing guys in the early 90s then fair enough but this is just a bit weird.

Personally I've always hated the current badge, let's let them have it and get ourselves a (another) new one, or better still revert back to the classic.

Its interesting that they are also linked with inter milan. If any of the youngsters they produce are good enough i wonder who they will go to........
Or maybee thats why we did this, to try and tempt the club to only sell to us :P
