Royalee Shaka was still playing in the top flight in 2006 but you may have a point - Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Gianfranco Zola, Thierry Henry, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer were all shit.
 no disrespect to Shaka (legend), but can you recall the nickname that he was given by the fans of at least one of his Premier teams?

Don't really care for getting into a pro/anti Marcus pro/anti Shaka arguement, but the thread asks for the BEST RFC goalie of all time, as good as Shaka was, he played far less games for Reading and none of which were in the Premier.

Please remind me of the nickname - I think you'll find he had a very decent career. Shaka performed better in a Reading shirt than Hahnemann - he was signed by a top Premier League club whereas we released Hahnemann despite him having good years here, which says it all.

Flapper Hislop, unfair, but there you have it. I do recall periods of his time in the Prem not being a bowl of cherries for him.

Totally agree that he had a very very decent career tho', a shame that most of it wasn't with Reading

Won a league title and had a playoffs runner-up medal in 2 years before getting a move to the second best team in the land at the time getting us loads of money in the process, not bad was he? Hahnemann had one league title and a relegation and went for nothing.

And a big LOL at 'flapper Hislop' - who supposedly gave him that?

Shaka was 26, just coming into his prime, with contract to run when he left. Marcus was 36, at the end of his career, and out of contract. The two positions are in no way comparable.

West Ham fans according to West Ham fans.

Whilst you will get no arguement from me about Shakas achievements.............the clue is in the thread title, and the question is: how much of his illustrious career bounty was with Reading?

In that case I will have Steve Francis for his saves in the pen shoot out against Coventry. I remember being gutted when he left, only to be replaced by Shaka so all was good in the end. I wonder how he felt after leaving Reading then seeing us win the league?

Hislop was great for all the time he was with, but Hahneman had one great season with us in the Premiership. It is difficult to choose between them, so I will go for Steve Death. I am sure he never made a single mistake, and he made excellent saves for a short man.

Dulwich Royal I seem to remember Chris Woods playing for us once at Crystal Palace ?

We got battered 6-1.

He played in more than just that game, iirc.

Never saw Death, but his height and record combine to make him virtually unbeatable IMO.

And of course it also forgets that Hahnemann went to club higher up the tier system than us, played regularly and helped keep them up even after he was released (largely as part of a cost saving excercise).

Out of loyalty and service to the club, for a record which stood 30 years, and a few PFA divisional awards along the way I'd go for Steve Death as title is best RFC goalie.

I know most of career was in 4th division but the points he saved us over the years was amazing - he also saved quite a few pens and check out our goals against record at home when he was here - often single figs for the whole season.

It would have been interesting to see how he would have coped at a higher level.

Maguire Yeah Shaka for me too.

Death is one for the oldies - I never saw him play so it's got to be Shaka or Marcus and, well, Shaka's black so that settles that.

What the fook is that meant to mean????????
